I get it. It's a crappy fast food joint. I'm not expecting Michelin 5-Star service. I expect crappy and I'm not upset when I get it because sometimes crappy can taste delicious. What I also expect, however, is fast.
Over the past five years, I've visited this Burger King once or twice per month. Five years ago, the staff was friendly, the management was eager to please, and while the service wasn't the fastest fast food, it was a reasonable wait for reasonable food.
Unfortunately, as time has gone by, the prices have gone up and the quality of the food has deteriorated. They got rid of some items I really liked and can't seem to hang on to the few items they've brought in that I do like (A-1 Bacon Chicken King).
Tonight was the end of my patronage, however, because I can't stomach paying the prices they charge to get crappy food, very slowly, and a crappy attitude from a manager.
I pulled up to the drive through at about 5:50, with no one in front of me and no one waiting at the window. The parking lot was empty an the dining room was, too. I ordered an order of chicken fries with honey mustard and a large fry and pulled forward. Within 3 minutes, I'd paid and been asked to pull around to the take-out parking because, "We're making you fresh chicken fries."
The drive-through cashier was friendly and polite and I pulled around to wait. After about 10 minutes, I decided to go inside to check on my order because it didn't seem like it should have taken that long. As I approached the counter, the manager was instructing the drive-through cashier to "give that bag to them (another car in the drive-through that had obviously come after me. Like, a lot after) and drop another order." This took a couple of minutes while I stood at the counter wondering if anyone would come talk to me.
The manager then approached the counter and asked what I wanted to which, I replied, "I'm just checking on my drive-through order. An order of chicken fries and a large fry?" The response I got was a disdainful look that communicated a "what do you want from me" vibe and the comment, "Yeah, she just dropped then. It's real busy." I asked how long it would take and she said two minutes. I didn't bother to challenge that estimate, given that they had supposedly started making me fresh chicken fries more than ten minutes ago because I knew I'd be lied to.
That estimate turned out pretty accurate and the manager brought them out to my car with nothing more than a clearly nnon-plussed "Here you go." I headed home to give the food to my teenage son only to discover that they forgot my damned honey mustard.
Burger King (at least this one) is simply not worth the indigestion anymore and I will...
Read moreOrdered a grape sprite, it was listed on the screen as just a Sprite so we asked if they understood it was a Grape Sprite. Employee responded in a rude tone of voice "We know sir"
Now, at the register we realized that we had made a mistake in our order. We asked if there was time to fix it, they told us it was too late. That's fine, it was our mistake. What ended up angering us was that we offered to take the burgers (as we had already paid for them) and then simply buy more burgers the way we wanted them. Instead they told us to pull to the side and they'd bring us out "remade" burgers. We thought "Cool, we offered to pay for them but they're remaking them for free. Maybe they aren'tso bad" turns out, nope. They just scraped the contents off the burgers they already made, put some cheese on them, and gave them back to us. Luckily we noticed it and more importantly, none of us have allergies to the things that were originally on the burgers so the only harm was the blatant disrespect rather then someone having an allergic reaction or something else.
Like dude, yes we screwed up while ordering and but we tried to make it right. We didn't ask for them to remake them for free, we were going to just buy more burgers. But they told us it was fine, had us pull to the side, and gave us back tampered burgers with the materials scraped off and thought we wouldn't be smart enough to notice. It didn't save them any money, (in fact it lost them money from us not buying a second set of burgers), it was just laziness. In short, rude from the outset, unprofessional...
Read moreWent through the drive through and ordered two BBQ Bacon Whopper meals and a salad. I was charged over $30 for the order, even after I asked her to verify the order and that there was only two meals, as I've never spent over $25 at a BK. I was handed the receipt and sure enough it said three meals and a salad, not two. I would later discover that I received two drinks, two fries, and three burgers. I mentioned that there were three meals on the receipt and she had me run into the building since there was a line. Understandable. After explaining to the dude behind the counter that I was charged for three meals and only received two and that I originally only wanted two, he turns around and grabs a burger and hands it to me. Woah! Did I say I needed an extra burger? I explained that I was over charged, he finally understood. He said the other girl helping me at the drive-thru would be with me shortly to fix it. Five minutes later (because the other guy I guess couldn't do it) came back, grabbed my receipt, and voided it. She said, "Okay, you're all set." I'm like, "So do I get money back?" "It'll go back on your card," she said. "Uhh, I gave you cash.", I said, and she looked confused, but then went and refunded all my money. So I essentially got about $22 worth of food for free. Overall, I rate my experience as a great one at the end of the day when I came out ahead and eventually took care of their customer. I'm still mad they got rid of the Carolina...
