CHECK YOUR TABS* Bartender Jenna has serious anger issues and will physically assault you when you are outside if you don't tip on top of your service charge.
My boyfriend and I and our friends went out to showboat for food and drinks and we're having a blast, almost all of the staff was so friendly and welcoming!! We go to pay our tabs and they are both in the 200's which is fine but we wanted to see the itemized receipts, the bartender Jenna printed them with hesitation and read them allowed to us without her letting us hold them... I then asked can I take a look and I noticed 32 dollars for a service charge was added, which I am also OKAY with and usually I would tip on top of that but as we were noticing the service charge she proceeds to say "that's only 18% I would expect you guys to tip on top of that" I was taken by COMPLETE shock and signed the receipt without adding any more. She then gets very irritated and says "I am done serving you guys, don't bother going to mamas garage either" at this point I'm pissed... I said "are you okay" " we have drank and ate here for the past 4 hours and had no problems, for you to tell me that I need to be tipping you more then the service charge or you won't serve me if ridiculous" she then puts the receipt in my face and starts yelling about the bill and kicks us out of the bar and I was outside ranting about what had just occurred and she comes outside and literally physically attacks me and a physical altercation takes place. I will be pursuing this more and I did go back into the bar later that night and told the manager that then said he was not informed about what had happened at all. She knows she's in the wrong and I will be...
Read moreI don't give a lot of 5 star reviews. To really earn 5 stars, a place has to do it all well. It doesn't have to be a wall of 50 taps, and a menu that runs on for pages, or a bar that's made out of polished unobtanium. Any sports bar can do that. What it really takes is good food, reasonable prices, and better than average staff. And some special something that makes it stand out. The Showboat hits it on all marks. The layout is [more than] a little odd, the floor has lots of transitions to keep you on your toes, and the sight lines to the stage are a little funky. But - it's got a really good stage, lighting and sound system, and just a great vibe overall. Beer list - more than adequate. I think there were 20+ beers on tap, covering a variety of styles and brewers, plus they had more in the cooler. Prices were more than reasonable as well. Food - Really good, and reasonably priced. They use fresh ingredients - real lettuce, thick cut bacon, properly toasted whole grain bread, and crispy onion rings (french fries looked equally good). Service - The staff can make or break a place like this (and they made it). Attentive to everyone at tables, at the bar, or queued up in the floor order line. Everyone hustled, everyone behind the bar was friendly, and there was plenty of staff to cover a band night.
So - 100+ year old bar, live music, good beer, good food, good staff. Yep, 5 stars and I now have a reason to...
Read moreCOUNT YOUR CHANGE RIGHT AWAY. was in there at 4 today with my girlfriend and we both got a round of drinks, its was supposed to be $9 for the two and I paid with a $20. The guy who was bartending set my change on the bar as customary, about 20 min went by untill we finished our drinks and were ready for another round. Went to order another but noticed I had only been given 6-$1 Bill's for change. Asked the same bartender if he had forgotten to discount my beer since they were 1/2 price at the time and he said no, so I told him my change was off. he then abruptly began to accuse me of taking a $5 out of the change and tried to tell me since it was 20 minutes ago that it was my fault even though I hadn't touched it on the bar where he set it untill I was ready for another. This was irritating so I stood up and pulled out my pockets and showed him I had nothing, he then mumbled his way over to the register swearing up and down that he gave me a $5 as he got me a new one. absolutely enraged me... if you think I'm stealing pull up the cameras and prove it. dont stand there accusing a customer of stealing when the employee miscounted my change or intentionally tried to skim it. Horrible service and experience I took the $5 he owed me along with the rest of change and left I dont need to be...
