Really disappointed! Because of the great reviews we decided to order 3 sandwiches on grab. The beef and cheese (at the very expensive price of 79k) was not charred chunks of beef like in the picture but in fact some kind of meatball type thing that didn’t taste like beef at all. The teriyaki chicken was a similar consistency to the beef and was a mush of shredded chicken mixed with something and some sauces on the top. The sausage was the typical Vietnamese style frankfurter (some places we have tried do a homemade style sausage) and although un offensive, was not good. The veg in all the sandwiches was good and the bread crispy but this was not enough to make the sandwiches palatable. During our time in Vietnam we have been lucky enough to try a lot of delicious banh mi sandwiches here in Hanoi, in hoi an, da nang and in Saigon and unfortunately none of the selection we tried from here I would recommend to others (or eat again myself). In fact we have a sad bag of baguettes with a couple of bites taken out of them currently in our bin. We did order it relatively close to closing time so perhaps if you get it first thing then it’s much better. I’m sorry to leave a negative review but I hope it helps someone avoid the...
Read moreThis was my first Bahn Mi in Vietnam and I wanted to wait to post because it was soo good but I wasn’t sure if I was just hungry or maybe didn’t know any better.
3 days later and more than 4 bahn mis to compare too this is the best for sure hands down.
I ordered the triple meat bahn mi special. First off the bread with an extremely crispy shell and the inside was soft and chewy. The pate and meats were seasoned to perfection and the sauce they added had a little kick. Not spicy but flavorful.
I’m definitely going to need to go back but eating my way through Hanoi means trying new things so I’ll keep trying new places but they will be rated against this Bahn Mi as the standard....
Read moreWe went here twice, once in the daytime and it was okay, after 3 months in Vietnam it was very average banh mi. We came back again as it was one of the few places open at midnight, this time it was so awful the char Siu was inedible it was so chewy and disgusting, the worst banh mi in Vietnam we had and we also got food poisoning for the first time in 3 months the next day - can’t say it is 100% this place but it very likely was as it’s the only thing myself and my partner ate the exact same.
I wish it was the case that it was just tenderloin as they say in their reply, but being mixed Chinese I have grown up all my life eating char Sui, this was just...
