I absolutely loved this bar – the atmosphere and interior were stylish and unique, creating the perfect setting for a great night out. One of the highlights was the live band, which only performs on Tuesdays and Fridays. Their performance was outstanding and, having visited many bars across Southeast Asia, I can say this was the best live music I’ve experienced. The first singer was especially impressive and even introduced some Korean, which made it extra special. Service was also excellent. A special thanks to the friendly server with glasses, who was attentive and made great cocktail recommendations. Every drink we tried was delicious, and the wasabi cocktail was particularly memorable! If I had to mention one improvement, it would be regarding payment. The bar only accepts cash and adds an additional service charge (first 10%, then 20%), which is fine but would be better if communicated clearly in advance since it’s not so common in many countries today. Also, dealing with Vietnamese currency can sometimes be confusing. For example, when trying to minimize small change, it would help if staff could allow a moment for guests to prepare the right amount. Aside from this minor point, everything else was fantastic. This place truly made for a perfect ending to the day, and I highly recommend it to...
Read moreThe bar looks beautiful and cocktails are okay but the owner needs to check up on his staff’s attitude. The bartenders always look unfriendly (the aircon was on too low to crack up a smile?) and the waiters/waitresses didn’t seem to be that interested in helping customers finding a seat. There was a drunk who was making a scene at the bar but the staff was oblivious to that fact and let the idiot continue his disorderly behaviour. At one point he collapsed on the floor from sitting improperly on the bar stool (while blocking the entrance to the restroom) but still no comment was made from the manager. I don’t know and frankly don’t care if the Mojito bar downstair has a different owner or not but either way, it doesn’t justify one of the servers’ rude behaviour towards us. Not sure if that 30-something woman was a bartender or the manager since I saw her both at the front and behind the bar, but she told us that The Alchemist was full AFTER she made me park my scooter far away from the pub with her chin up high and an obnoxious face. I read a couple of reviews and it seems like people have had unpleasant encounters with this particular person as well. Perhaps the income is already too high for this business to care about customers’ feedbacks. I guess they won’t mind receiving a negative...
Read morewhat’s going on with you guys? Just a year ago I had a really great experience and even left a 5* review but this time around was honestly such a letdown. the drinks were lazily made and took forever to come out, the bartender seemed unprofessional, and the staff just didn’t feel friendly at all. I couldn’t even tell who was managing the place, no one looked like they were in charge or keeping an eye on the service. cocktails used to be amazing, but now the quality has clearly dropped, they felt average and definitely not worth the price. It seems like the bartenders have changed too. the guy and the female staff member I met last year were fantastic but they’re no longer there. looks like the bar has lost some really good people. You guys seriously need to reevaluate your service quality if you want to live up to the space and the premium pricing. also only accepting cash? that’s pretty inconvenient and I really wonder why? If that’s your policy, at least make it clear from the start so it doesn’t come off as shady or frustrating. This is just my personal experience this time, maybe other customers still love the place, but honestly, you need to take a hard look at your attitude and drink quality. It’s not the same vibe I fell in love...
