I have had bánh mì across the breadth of Vietnam from Cà Mau to Hà Nội. Yet this place intrigued me with its very high ratings and consistently good reviews.
As a result, I decided to visit last week in the morning whilst on a trip to Hà Nội. I ordered a pate and egg bánh mì which was promptly made fresh and cooked breifly in a small oven.
When I bit into the bánh mì I was shocked. It was literally the best bánh mì I have had. The ingredients were fresh, with good portion size, but, most importantly, the bread was delicious. Unlike many other places that sell bánh mì with an almost stale texture this bánh mì was warm, soft and fluffy yet with a nice gentle crisp on the outside. The bread was perfectly cooked.
My only regret was that I found this place on my last day visiting Hà Nội. But I will definitely be visiting again. For the price too it is unbeatable. If you want an excellent bánh mì for an excellent price...
Read moreIt was nice that the store is walkable from where I stayed. I tried the xa xiu pate banh mi and I loved it 😋 The bread had a reall6 nice crunch to it, the ingredients were well-balanced and complimented each other. One of my recommended places to try in Hanoi.
I was also lucky to have met the owner herself who is a very lovely and kind lady, and I truly loved her hair as well! We chatted for a while since she saw me eating alone, and she was kind enough to recommend me some places to try while in Hanoi. She also recommended me her favorite cafe which was near her store. Moreover, I could feel her passion for food and maybe that's one of the secret ingredients she has for serving great food. I'll forever cherish my encounter with her :) I'm sorry if I wasn't able to come back in the evening, but I'll be back again soon and eat there again and try some of the food in the...
Read moreThe owner is the sweetest lady. She was very patient with us while ordering. After us came a huge group of Italian tourists, and she was both efficient and professional in taking their orders even though they were rather noisy ahaha.
My sister proceeded to order a bowl of their sticky rice after we finished our bahn mis (which were delicious; although I recommend those who cannot tolerate spice very well to request for their sandwich to be made non-spicy). It was a hearty meal! I particularly enjoyed the egg.
The owner surprised us by giving us a fresh baguette (it was nice and warm) before we left, free of charge! We totally weren’t expecting it but were very thankful (and truth be told, a little skeptical because we didn’t know how it would taste on its own). To our surprise (again), the bread was delicious on its own!...
