As I wandered through the charming little alleyways of Old Hoi An, I discovered a hidden gem called Buttercup by Rosie. It was such a delightful surprise! When I stepped inside, a friendly waitress greeted me with a warm smile and showed me to my table, menu in hand. I decided to have some fun and asked her if the chef could whip up a surprise breakfast dish along with a drink that would perfectly complement it. She happily accepted my request and dashed off to bring my tasty surprise.
After about 20 minutes, the waitress returned with an amazing feta-covered omelet that cost just 85,000 VND (USD 3.23) and a refreshing Morning Glow drink for 60,000 VND (USD 2.42), bringing my total to just $5.65 USD! Every bite was a delight, and I found myself wondering how much such a lovely meal would cost back home in the USA, probably over $25 just for the food!
It's always good to keep in mind the differences in costs when you’re traveling, whether you’re a budget backpacker or just enjoying a getaway. The value of things can vary so much between your home country and beautiful places...
Read moreTerrible experience. We found a large shard of glass in our matcha, and the food made us sick with food poisoning. Even after pointing out the glass, which is a serious health hazard, they repeatedly apologized but still refused to comp the meal. Completely unacceptable. We’re extremely disappointed and will never return.
Update: The restaurant responded below, so I want to clarify a few important details. The piece of glass we found in the matcha was large and sharp. My friend actually drank from the cup and immediately spit it out after feeling it in her mouth. We all stopped eating because we were scared for our safety, and several of us felt sick afterward.
We only asked for the bill to be waived because the situation felt genuinely dangerous. I left this review so others could be aware, and I hope this leads to stronger food safety practices...
Read moreCurrently sitting in Buttercup by Rosie’s. I’m suffering from a 2 day hangover and thought I’d try this place as back home breakfast grub is normally perfect for hangovers. I’m feeling much better now after my BLT bagel. To describe the scene as you walk in- it’s very much a backpacker cafe. Not a local in sight. It’s also very busy (I came at 1pm). For this reason I felt that I was very happy to eat here. Normally busy places mean clean. Also I think because it’s been so busy, their toilet is out of order. Bit annoying but luckily my hostel isn’t far away. So I had the blt bagel with avocado. I probably would’ve preferred my egg slightly more cooked (less gooey) but that’s just a preference. Everything was delicious and the staff are very friendly and great at English....
