Modern styled station that has lots of different lines coming through it. Staff tend to be very helpful at these stations and this is again the case here. They seem very approachable. There are options for the community to walk through the station to the other side of Redfern without scanning their Opal card, which is a lovely addition. Nice artwork seen in the photo from around a month ago. Lots of steps, but lots of lifts as well making it pedestrian friendly apart from the T4 Line I believe. The main drawback of the station is how big it is causing there to be rather long walks to get from platform to exit. Also there tends to be a few homeless people outside which is sad to see and I hope they are able to get the support they need; they have been there for a long time. Read moreDecent station, great for transferring trains with a wide range of convenient major train lines. The station is quite large and in a good location, with many attractions nearby. Despite these nice aspects of Redfern station, there are many disadvantages. Not only are there no elevators/lifts on the majority of the platforms, the staircases are overwhelmingly crowded and can cause you to miss a connecting train simply trying to get up the stairs in the afternoon hours. It would be helpful if the staircases were larger and the paths throughout the station had more indication on the directions in which visitors are meant to travel. Currently, the users of the train station go in all directions through the main part of the station, almost colliding countless times. Overall adequate train station with need for...
Read moreCertainly one of the "ugly duckling" turns into a swan when it comes to rundown train stations turning into a beautiful transportation hub. The only unfortunate thing about this station is it's not wheelchair accessible! There's escalators and stairs though. It has short platforms so it's advisable to leave the train from the first six cars. There's departure board for all services. Available here is Opal card top up or single trip ticket machine, lavatory, payphone, emergency help point, taxi ranks and "kiss and ride stopping area". The station closed from 1 am to 4:30 am, weekdays, weekends and public holidays. Routes from this station to Emu Plains or Richmond to the City, to Parramatta, Lepington, Liverpool, Lidcombe via Bankstown. Certainly comes a long way from an almost backward and...
