The Church of St. Peter is one of the most popular churches in the city of Salzburg in Austria. Many people associate emotional experiences with the collegiate church of St. Peter. Be it weddings, baptisms or funeral ceremonies. The center of monastery is the collegiate church of St. Peter. The ruined first abbey church was redesigned by Abbot Balderich in the style of the High Romanesque style. In 1147, this still existing construction was inaugurated.

The multiple transformations reflect the varied history of the monastery. Between 1760 and 1782, Abbot Beda Seeauer completely redesigned the interior of the church with the collaboration of national and foreign artists (Franz X. König, Lorenz Härmbler, Johann N. Högler, Benedikt Zöpf, J. Weiss, J. Martin Schmidt).

If you are visiting Salzburg then this is a must visit. Also, do try the Olive -n-Cheese bread 👍from the stalls outside the cathedral. Trust me its one of the lip smacking breads i have ever had. Till now i can not forget the taste, its...

I really enjoyed this area. It has the oldest Abbey in Europe dating back to the 7th century. The oldest church we couldn't go in. But you can peek thru 2 man-made holes in the door. The church is surrounded by cemeteries, adorned with perennials and flowers. There are other cemeteries at the periphery with statues and paintings. Then there is the catacombs. The only thing you pay for here in the St. Peter's Abbey. Just 2 Euros or very inexpensive. Nothing compared to Italy's catacombs. The catacombs I'd actually say should be called "chapel". There were no skulls or skeletons. And no mannequins to indicate where people where buried but it's amazing to see. It's actually built onto the side of a mountain wall. There is also a beautiful church ( you can go I'm this one), a great little seen restaurant and Christian shop. DEFINITELY a must see this area...

St. Peter's Abbey is a breathtaking piece of history nestled in the heart of Salzburg. Dating back to the 7th century, this Catholic church and monastery exude an aura of timeless beauty and serenity. The Baroque architecture, intricate decorations, and peaceful atmosphere make it a must-visit for history lovers and spiritual seekers alike.

One of the highlights is the picturesque cemetery and catacombs, which offer a fascinating glimpse into the past. The surroundings are stunning, with the abbey seamlessly blending into the rocky landscape. Whether you're admiring the Rococo-style interior or exploring the historical graves, every corner of St. Peter's Abbey tells a story.

A visit here is not just about sightseeing—it's an experience that leaves you with a deep appreciation for Salzburg’s rich heritage. Highly...
