This hotel that is part of the Wyndham collection is infested with cockroaches. Within 2 hours of arriving we found a live cockroach running around the bathroom. ||At this point it was about 11pm. I killed it and took it down to the front desk and told them they have a major problem in their hotel. We had a 5 month old baby and a 2 year old daughter with us, it was roughly 11pm at night and I asked them to move us to another hotel. They refused to do anything but change our room. ||We had to wake our girls up, pack up the room/crib and load them into the car to limit the risk of taking cockroaches home in our belongings, and jump back online to find a new hotel in the middle of the night. ||We reached out to Wyndham and gave them an opportunity to rectify the situation. We told them that we are going to need proof that this hotel was exterminated and they told us despite us booking through their Wyndham rewards program, it wasn’t their problem and we need to take it up with the hotel. I explained to them I did take it up with them and they did nothing. We aren’t the kind of people to go out of our way to leave a bad review, but it makes me sick to think other families are staying there since November 8th 2024 and could have potentially taken cockroaches home with them. ||I highly recommend if anyone has noticed a cockroach infestation at their home since staying here that you get in touch with the Niagara Heath department. We are filing a report and will follow up to ensure this hotel and Wyndham are held responsible for knowingly putting the public at risk. ||We stay in hotels all over the world and recently joined the Wyndham rewards hotel program and I have to forewarn you that Wyndham has quite a few questionable establishments under their watchful eye and it’s worth spending the extra bit of money to avoid these lower end programs. ||If you’re wondering why I’ve titled this an infestation, it’s because when we were leaving the hotel after packing up, of course we were looking more closely at the walls, and as we exited the exterior door there was a spiderweb in the bottom corner of the hallway and stuck inside the spiderweb there was a dead cockroach. This wasn’t just inside our room, it’s the...
Read moreI’d reframe from staying at this hotel unless you want to be accused of smoking in a room that you did not smoke in and then being put on the “no rent” list. I don’t even smoke. I frequent Niagara more than most people two and a half weeks ago I stayed at another motel/hotel that I frequent for three weeks. I spend nearly or over a thousand dollars every time I come. I have a few favourites here, this hotel no longer being one of them. I booked this hotel for my birthday and was going to be extending my stay for about a week and a half or more. After booking and paying, I called to ask if they had the room available that I was in last time, and after pulling up my name they informed me that they could not rent the room to me as I was on the no rent list. He asked the owner why and the owner said I had smoked in the room and therefore he could not rent the room for some days later. This is not true as I did not smoke in the room, but during my stay I did see other guests checking rooms to make sure they were happy with the one they got. If you look at reviews you will see it for yourself. People complain that the entire hallways/hotel has a smell sometimes. I’ve always been respectful to their staff and left me in a huge bind because on the day of my birthday I was needing to call the third party I booked with and get a refund which didn’t settle for three days and by then was already taken from my account so I had to wait additional time to get my money back, as well as spend time booking with another hotel. I find the entire situation very strange and will be calling head office once I get home because any other hotel would try to take the deposit first and foremost. They couldn’t even bother to let me know I was put in a no rent list for their hotel, so I booked at one of my regular hotels, unknowingly. Had I not called to request my room and got to Niagara then letting me know, I would have been in an even bigger bind. I’ve stayed at 8 plus hotels here some being my regular as I like to stick to my regulars, and I’ve never had a problem at one of them, and am on a first name basis with some. Thanks to the hotel I am at now, they made my day a little brighter. I’m still quite shocked and...
Read moreOur stay at the Super 8 Niagara Falls was not that great. Here are the negatives: Breakfast was in a windowless, crowded and stuffy room in the basement. They had waffles but customers are not allowed to use the waffle iron but must ask the worker to do it. The only eggs were hard boiled. The croissants were not very good, but they had peanut butter. The only fruit was bananas. They offered yogurt, juice, coffee and tea. They also had cold cereal. One of the worst breakfasts we have seen. Lots of sad people hunting for seats. Crowded. The electrical plugs in the room were in bad shape and there were few. There was no plug at the desk/table. The lamps on either side of the bed did not work well and plugging in a computer or phone charger to the lamp base did not work. As a result, you could either have lights, or charge your phone — not both. The cable TV had few channels. No movie or sports channels. The shower showed some rust at the bottom of the door. The toilet was old with a small seat. They had a tacky red heart-shaped jacuzzi in the middle of the room. The bedroom window (first floor) would not open. They do not tell you in advance but when you arrive you find they charge you $10 extra for the privilege of parking. There were stains in the suspended ceiling. Everything seems a bit dated. Almost all the near by restaurants are Indian. You have to walk 2 blocks to get anything but that. POSITIVES: The $10 fee for parking will carry over for the rest of the day (they told us this after we asked) allowing you to walk to the falls and leave your car. The hotel is very near the falls and the tourist attractions (Ripley Believe it Or Not, etc.). You can easily walk to the falls from the hotel — a bit further if you want to see the tunnels under the falls but even that is manageable. This is not one of the best hotels you will stay at but compared to other prices near the falls it is inexpensive — but at $153 (October) it is still costly. I would suggest staying in a better hotel further from the falls area and driving the rest of the way, or paying more and really enjoying...
