Stopped by after a couple of pints with friends. Was sat down, but was told we needed to hurry, because they were closing within an hour. We agreed, and waited 5 mins until we were sat. Menu was quick and easy, so we attempted to order just in time for the waitress to rudely say "no we don't have that" as we tried to get a milkshake, and a Coke Zero. I replied I would take a Diet Coke if she had that instead, and my friend ordered a beer instead. She ushered to the back irritated.
The entire time she looked annoyed and was very short and rude. At one point near the end of our meal another couple of people tried to get a table and she turned them away. It was totally fine as it was close to closing time, except that after they were turned away, she must have either not realized or cared that we heard her mocking them, then saying "bye don't try to come again" while laughing. I don't even want to know what she was saying about us when she was out of sight. It was a shame as some of our Irish friends highly recommended this place. When we thanked her, told her it was worth the 9hr plane ride, and left her a 20% tip on 60-65 tab, she could not even muster a smile, and just walked away in a exasperated manner. We did encounter one of the kitchen staff when he came out to help pick up our trays and he was kind.
That being said, the food was phenomenal, the beef tasted fresh, tender, and of quality. The toppings added a burst of freshness to the decadent beef patty. The cheese and condiments complemented without over powering the star of the show (beef). The bun was soft, and fluffy yet able to handle everything between it. It did not waver!
The shoestrings were flavorful, not too greasy, crispy and pleasantly fresh. The hand cut fries were potatoey, soft and fluffy inside, yet golden and crispy in the outside. While I dipped them in ketchup, they didn't even need it. The Diet Coke was the perfect touch.
HIGHLY recommend the food, service...

Such a Yummmy burger! Mmmm, Sooo tasty, meaty, juicy! The flavours combined so well! Total Pleasure! Cooked medium as ordered and happily not medium well! 😎Next time I’ll try medium-rare, oh yes, there will be a next time when I take a break from my veggies!
I’m a pretentious little creature with a huge appetite who loves cooking tasty, colourful energising food and this was top notch!
Let me know where else in town burgers are cooked with passion and you can experience it with every bite! 🍔
💔Update… the Love is gone! 💔 Two months later…
I went for my favourite burger and I got a pancake burger.
Maybe the super chef is gone and someone having a really bad day was juggling and slapping burgers, burning them a little bit just to improve the experience. Unfortunately… a waste…
Instead of being cooked medium, the burgers were very well done, even a little burnt, sign the grill wasn’t cleaned and so flat, was the first pancake meat I’ve ever seen in my life.
The staff this time offered more than once to change the burger to make me “happy”, I refused thinking about the waste, my friend accepted to get a new burger and guess what… looked exactly like the first one: flat, very well done, burnt(sign the chef wasn’t cleaning the grill).
A few weeks later I told my friend who recommended the place about our experience and surprise surprise, her next visit was exactly like ours: very well done, flat pancake burger. Makes us think they are cooking frozen burgers at this point to keep up with the demand.
Stars are dropping for the food and staff who gave us “looks...
Read moreStopped by Bunsen for a late lunch around 3–4 pm. From the outside, it looks like any other burger joint simple signage, nothing that screams “famous.” But since it’s the name that keeps popping up when you mention burgers in Dublin, I had to give it a try.
Inside, it’s loud, fast-paced, and packed. Tables are crammed close, conversations overlap, and there’s that casual chaos that gives it a bit of charm but also makes it hard to relax. The staff were young, friendly, and clearly hustling just two waitresses running the entire place, so plenty of dashing around.
I ordered the Double Cheeseburger with shoestring fries. It came out quick, but the experience landed somewhere in the middle not bad, not great. Just… fine. The burger was decent but lacked that “wow” factor everyone seems to rave about. Fries were okay, though nothing memorable.
All in, I paid about €20, which is fair for what it is, but given the hype, I walked out expecting more. Dublin definitely has better burger spots waiting to be discovered. Bunsen just didn’t hit that legendary...
