[I wrote this review for a stay in November 2024 so YMMV]
The Timez boutique hotel has got a lot of things right. A modern aesthetic and welcoming staff, but there are some fundamental issues that marred the comfort and experience. I'll start with the good things. Location, this hotel is smack bang the middle of the night market which is ideal for night time shopping and eateries. Bathroom, very good overall, with modern shower fittings and a decent hose though water pressure wasn't quite up to par. Nice and clean throughout. Inside the main room there were multiple power points, a large screen TV with quite a poor signal, a safe for your valuables, and a mini fridge with a small ice cube tray compartment. All very typical mod cons, but some of it was broken. The main power socket on one side of the bed intermittently failed which resulted in an under charged phone the next morning, a source of major anxiety for travellers in foreign lands. Simple Pat testing should reveal such faults. Next, the fridge, this fully defrosted one night. As far as I could tell the power and fridge were OK, but the door seal wasn't abutting to the door edge correctly so didn't reliably fully close on contact. Simple maintenance tasks might include setting the front of the fridge legs higher so the door closes better and more firmly. Next, the bed. After so many good design decisions, the owner cheaped out on the mattress. A relatively thin, and very hard "king koil" mattress according to the manifest, and a lousy shortage of pillows, one per side. This is unforgivable, and they really need to rip these torture devices out, then invest in good quality mattresses, thicker and preferably pocket sprung. Both myself and family in another room we rented commented on how uncomfortable the beds were. Now for the big one. Aircon. In both our rooms the air-conditioning failed completely in the middle of the night for both nights. Couple the sweltering heat with a hard mattress made for a terrible experience and no sleep. The clue really was on arrival, when "Dr.Aircon" was parked outside and we had to wait for them to resolve a technical issue before we could take our rooms. Fine, breakdowns happen and they were clearly trying to resolve this. But when we returned, the staff warned us to not adjust the controls at all and not remove the door card from the power slot. But Aircon was on and the rooms were cool. Alas, it didn't last, the rooms boiled during the night and the display woke us when it's lights came on flashing that there was a fault, the Aircon was pumping out warm air. If this hotel learns the lessons I listed and fixes these issues it has the chance to become great rather than a...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU DON’T WANT YOUR ITEMS TO GO MISSING! LOST MY 2K (Maison Margiela’s ring) here
came to check in very late at night and i crashed immediately upon seeing the bed, so i don’t know that there was a safe in the room. i woke up the next morning and had to rush to go out for a site visit - so i left all of my jewelleries in the luggage on top of my bed and went out of the room. I came back in the evening with the bed made up . my luggage was rearranged and my jewelleries were at the tv console - and I noticed 1 ring missing.
I tried to look for in the whole room, under the bed, in my luggage (suspecting it fell off during cleaning) but to no avail. So called receptionist and they sent the housekeeper to the room - they told me that there were only 1 ring during cleaning. I clarified back there were 2 rings and they said they were going to check with laundry.
And later that day, there were no updates until I went to the receptionist and enquired her on this. She said , yeah they couldn’t find it so sorry. I told her this is unacceptable and they should be accountable - she said I’m going to check with them (housekeeper) and let you know.
Next day, the day I’m checking out - I searched the whole room again hoping to find it but didn’t. So I went down to the receptionist and met the manager. Told him and he said he aware on this but as part of hotel policy they couldn’t do anything, flat out said that he believed the housekeeper didn’t do anything and it is my responsibility to ensure the safety of my things. So anytime housekeeper came in and item went missing-the one staying in the room should be accountable. They refused to be responsible, let alone be accountable for the missing ring. Worst customer service - you might want to consider the safety of your belongings if you’re...
Read moreI don't even know where to start. Location and service from a very nice man named Kamarul is only thing that got us through. We were very excited about our 4 night stay but during all our world travels for last 25+ years I've never been so keen to leave a hotel. We got their 'premium" King room. The top room. The bedsheets and towels were stained and worn out.. The fridge didn't work despite 'engineer' taking a look which I believe they are well aware of this broken fridge. The toilet leaked, leaving a terrible sewer smell the whole time. The bath tub was stained. The room was so run down. The a/c was an issue and they brought a portable unit. We brought the attention of all these issues in the first few hours of check in and the manager Sunil accused us of finding reasons to leave and would not acknowledge any of our concerns other than to repeatedly advise the payment is norefundable. Communication was very rude. Obviously they are well aware of customer issues with state of rooms and their go to is it is non-refundable. What a joke! Anyone with a pair of eyes could see what a wrought this was, obviously we didn't expect the Ritz but definitely didnt expect this state. Top it off, Sunil had a horrible attitude. Disgusting. Anyway as we arrived on a Friday it was hard to find a vacant room in the vicinity. Of course he refused any kind of refund despite the dismal state of room and toilet. Pictures on website are nothing like what the room looked like. Anyway despite losing $152 a night we left the hotel early. The location is not worth it. Plenty of hotels around area in better condition than there top room for cheaper price. Definitely do not recommend this hotel simply based on their rude manager Sunil along with sewer smelling toilet, a/c issues, stained towels, just all...
