Finally got a spot of parking to get into this place! Memory from 10 yrs plus ago when I came with my school mates. Definitely an intriguing entrance, dimly lit, but it opens up to a cosy setting. If the weather wasn't as it currently is, this would be perfect. A bit warm, but manageable. The staff was quick to entertain. Reminder, it's a non-halal place which serves pork and alcohol. Came here with my lovely parents, and we ordered the following: 1) Baboon Big Breakfast (RM32) - This was a big portion, but tasted nice nevertheless. It consisted of scrambled eggs, sauteed mushrooms, bacon, sausage, simple salad with dressing on the side, toasted tomatoes and bread. Overall, it was good and pleasing for brunch, just that the sausage and bacon was slightly salty, and the eggs were not as soft as I would've imagined. Everything seasoned well. 2) Iberico Pork Burger (RM41) - Iberico means black pig. My highlight of the day. The burger was perfect. Nicely toasted buns with some sesame and pumpkin seeds on top, an extremely juicy and well seasoned pork patty, perfect sauce I think it was thousand island, and the melting cheese. It came with deep fried potato wedges and a side of salad. It was a divine gourmet burger in my opinion. Should be one of their signatures. Just one downfall for me personally is the amount of salad leaves placed on the plate, I'm not a fan of overloading a plate with salad leaf, it's just a cheap gesture for me. A plain simple plate with the right amount is fine. I have to say their buns remained crisp till my last bite even with sauce on it! 3) Tandoori Chicken Burger (RM28) - A perfect emulation of a tandoori chicken dish with mint sauce. Also with nicely toasted buns, the thigh piece was not dry at all but juicy, and topped off with mint sauce. It was a delicious combo. It came with a salsa on the side with some nacho chips, and deep fried potato wedges too. Salsa was good. And for drinks we ordered a few : Flat White Coffee (RM10), 'Orange, Carrot and Lemon' Juice (RM14), and Moroccan Mint Tea (RM10+) (the Red Tea was unavailable). They tasted fine as they should, haha. Anything off would have been doubtful. They have plain water served in bottled on the side for free. So, careful not to order from the menu, cause it costs RM1. Another thing, they have really creative art pieces displayed here, not only framed picture ones, but some seems like handmade, really appreciate such art. Should have taken more photos of those. Overall, although really pricey, we were pleased with the food quality and the atmosphere. Would definitely return here again someday.

I would describe this as the best cafe in melaka because it truly is. We came in the afternoon and there was electricity outage in the entire stretch of building so we were informed that there was no fan, no lights before stepping in. No issues here because the cafe is so deep in and there is natural sunlight shining through. The cafe is very deep in, and I don't think you will be able to find another cafe elsewhere that has the same charm. Albeit some corners being dimmer, there were candles lit up and table lamps. We were served iced water to make it up for the lack of fans which was a great initiative as iced water was chargeable on the menu. Ordered the falafel burger which came with a mini side salad and sweet potato fries. It was delicious, the burger came with guacamole which went surprisingly well with the falafel patty. Sweet potato fries were light and crispy and the salad provided a tanginess. For 25rm, this is very worth it and quite a good portion that will definitely fill you up. Halfway through, the electricity issue was solved. Next came the creme brulee, creamy and beautiful looking. Coffee is great too, I would describe it as lower in acidity and has a balanced sweetness + slight bitterness. One of the best parts of the cafe is the staff. Truly fantastic staff, superb in service. So attentive, initiative, prompt and welcoming. We had condiments like chilli and tomato sauces served together with the food without even asking for it. Coffee was served with a cookie and a jar of sugar. Plates were cleared very promptly, dessert served right after the staff confirmed if we were ready to have it. All genuine smiles. These are not just 1 staff we are talking about. There were 2 of them who stood out and provided such a seamless experience from the moment we stepped in, till we left. Very professional, it felt like we were being served in a fine-dining restaurant. Would rate an 6/5 stars for service if I could. Don't think I've experienced service this good. There is no doubt that I'll return if I drop by Melaka again. Super recommended and a massive thank you to the staff here !!! ☺️😄😊

In the hustle bustle of Jonker walk sleeps a small establishment. The very entrance puzzles many upon entering. Greeting guest are folks from the olden days and an alter like backdrop making first impressions very hard to forget. Guts shifts once you walk pass the first room into the next. Things seemed a bit foresty and cool. However, things are not so cool once you get past this as you will be greeted by bones and what shamans use to worship or curse. Once you sit down, accompanying you by your side can be a picture like mine which leaves one to think it may be another apparatus of worship for the jungle folks. The menu is a bit tattered but the content is very enticing. With prices ranging from RM 18 to RM 27.50, the burgers caught my eyes the most. They are not really your typical burgers and the descriptions failed to describe how glorious they taste. The spices and doness tickles the tounge. The portion is just right for one hungry hog. Well, if you're a hog then you shouldn't be eating till you drop. So learn to eat just enough to fill your tummy. The service is quick and even with a bunch of tourist, they serve at a pretty efficient speed. Before I end, the Melaka coffee is much stronger than the ones we find in coffee shops. Portion could be bigger but hey, I might be talking this much because of the coffee. Keep up the great standards. Maybe brighten up a bit. It's not always Halloween and babies might get scared.

I took a bus from Kuala Lumpur to Malacca, and immediately looked for lunch in the Jonker area. I searched on Google for something unique and highly rated, so I tried The Baboon House. To enter you must press the bell. And the cafe staff will open the door and show you a table. Very friendly and seems experienced in serving English speaking tourists. As soon as I entered, I was shocked and didn't expect it. Because the atmosphere is actually like a haunted house 😅. It's like an abandoned old Chinese house in Hong Kong ghost movies in the 80-90 era. It's just dressed up in such a way that it becomes a unique cafe. . I ordered the Beef Burger for RM 25. The portion was quite large, the meat was thick and tender. Served with potato wedges and watermelon. Yes, watermelon, I have never eaten a burger with a side dish of watermelon. But it goes well soothes the gums after chewing the meat. Baboon Green Salad at RM 23 is even more surprising, because the portion is large. It has lots of filling, lettuce, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, peppers, toast and bacon. Very delicious. For drinks, I tried Latte RM 12 and Ginger Lemon Beer RM 14. Delicious, taste average. But Rafaello Coconut Ice Cream dessert RM 15, this is really delicious. My favorite.

The ambience is fantastic and the food is pretty good too, but I'd recommend figuring out your QR code ordering system. We ended up with an Iberico burger that we did not order, but the wait staff insisted we must have and that it was our mistake. As you can see from the screenshot, it is not on our order. When I showed them the screenshot they wouldn't accept it and continued to insist that we ordered it as an "Add-On," but I don't even know what that means, let alone how to do it. If it was a mistake on our part then I'd be happy to own up and accept the mistake, but we absolutely did not order it. We were essentially called liars and expected to pay for something we genuinely didn't order. Cool place, but not an ideal experience. Edit: Just as a follow up to the response from the owner below - while it's nice to be offered a refund, that would not have been offered if I hadn't taken the time to write a negative review. I didn't go back to collect my refund, as I am travelling like I'd imagine many customers are and was only in Melaka for a short time. The issue should have been rectified at the time instead of in order to save face later.

A pleasant stop at this restaurant for lunch. We were there at about 12.30pm and was ushered to a table at the door step. Restaurant was almost full then and observed a number of walk in customers politely asked to wait for a table. Service level was top notch from the rather young service team. We ordered the burgers via the app and was served within just a few minutes. The food quality was good with accompanying wedges and watermelon slices. Had a side order of cheese & beef nachos which were fantastic. Desserts were also good especially the bubur chacha. Was piping hot when served with a lot of sweet potatos, yam cubes and sago. The cubes were done is just the right size. Coconut milk was frangant hence really good dessert to end the meal. The restaurant itself is very interesting. Lots of greens, water elements and adequately dimmed lights to motivate a relaxed meal....very instagrammable as they say. Service was attentive and most importantly genuinely done to ensure a good pleasant experience for it's customers. Great to see this executed seamlessly by the young team! Payment via e wallet is accepted here.
