Nice motel. Great views of the Lake and Remarkables from our room on the ground floor. Late check in was well-organised even without a reception in attendance. The room was well equipped with a mini kitchen (including a stove) and our issues were promptly handled by the reception/manager. Two drawbacks in the room: no safe and no telephone. Morgan (manager) was kind to help us out with keeping our valuables safe with her. On the latter, one had to run to the reception or call the reception during office hours through personal phones which I found a bit odd. On Day 1, we found our shower drain blocked but that was handled by Morgan the same day. By the time we were leaving, the drain was blocking again so hope the room service team will clear it for the next occupancy. We were confused with the room service provisioning though - some days we would receive a full service, some days basic - which is fine with us but a bit more communication would have been helpful. There is a self serve laundry which only takes coins so you’d need to have cash on hand that the reception will gladly barter for coins. The location is good, closer to the town centre and with a view. Public transport is also accessible. For people with physical limitations (which are rare QT visitors unlike us), the location is a bit challenging. All in all, a good place...
Read moreHonestly I was a little disappointed for the amount we paid. Our first night was terrible. The queen bed advertised was 2 singles pushed together. The shelves in the shower were broken and on a slope so we couldn't keep any of our shower items in there. The toilet roll holder was broken also. We ended up talking to the owner who thankfully moved us into another room with an actual queen bed. The room was a lot better but still I felt the motel is a little lacking, we paid nearly 1200 nzd for 6 nights. There are no signs for the cleaning service, they come once a day and if you're in the room you have to either wait or decline cleaning. The toilet is 2 metres from the bed, and no fans in the bathroom and air freshener is not provided. There is also not much of a view, we maybe had a view of a quarter of the lake from our room (and much less from our first room). I really appreciate the owner willing to move us as I wouldn't have been able to sleep on 2 single beds, but all of the other little things amounted to a lot when you look at price vs what is...
Read moreThis was an awesome place. The views are really nice as you're surrounded by mountains on all sides. There's also views of the lake and easy access into town by walking, car, or cab. Town has about 20 restaurants all within a mile or so (1.5/2km) walking distance and there's pharmacies, grocers, and other stores with easy access too. The dryer and washer each individually cost $4NZ a load, but it's a nice convenience as they're right in the facility. The folks up front will make change for the loads if you only have cash on you.
We had originally planned on staying only two nights here but God had other plans, lol; one of our party tested positive for COVID (caught it in either Sydney or possibly long LAX layover) and we had to quarantine here for part of the mandatory 8 day symptoms start period. The hosts were very gracious and worked with us to avoid contact and switch rooms to the larger one bedroom apartment (there was a difference in fee but it was worth it in our case to limit the spread).
If we stay in Queenstown again we'll definitely be...
