Paragon Cineplex is an overpriced, underwhelming disaster of a theater. Despite charging higher rates than SF Cinema, it delivers a worse experience across the board—inferior screens, subpar sound, dirty seating, and a lackluster ambiance. Worst of all? Insects literally fell onto multiple members of our party during the screening. This wasn’t some forgotten, old screening room—it was a theater showing a new release, meaning there’s no excuse for such poor maintenance. Save your money and go anywhere else. 1/5.
Full Review Paragon Cineplex is a lesson in how not to run a movie theater. Positioned as one of the more “premium” cinema chains in Thailand, you’d expect an experience that justifies its higher ticket prices. Instead, what you get is an underwhelming, frustrating, and frankly disgusting time at the movies.
Pricing vs. Quality: A Complete Disparity Let’s start with the elephant in the room—this theater is more expensive than SF Cinema, yet offers an objectively worse experience. SF Cinema, across Thailand, consistently provides better seating, better screens, better sound systems, and better maintenance, yet Paragon Cineplex still dares to charge premium rates for a subpar product. If you’re going to price yourself as an “elite” option, then at the bare minimum, the basics should be spot on—but that’s far from the case here.
Screen & Sound: An Absolute Letdown The visual quality at Paragon Cineplex is, to put it lightly, mediocre at best. The projection felt dim and washed out, with subpar contrast levels, making darker scenes almost impossible to appreciate. If you’re watching a big-budget film that relies on stunning visuals, you’re going to lose a lot of that magic here.
The sound system wasn’t much better. It lacked depth, clarity, and balance—a real problem when trying to enjoy an immersive movie experience. There were noticeable distortions in some of the heavier bass moments, and dialogue often sounded muddy, as if the speakers hadn’t been calibrated in a while.
Cleanliness & Comfort: A Hygiene Horror Show If a theater is going to be average in visuals and sound, the least it can do is provide a clean and comfortable environment. Paragon Cineplex failed here as well.
The seats felt old and poorly maintained, with some showing visible wear and tear. There was noticeable dust buildup, and the armrests did not seem properly cleaned. The floor was sticky, as if it hadn’t been properly mopped between showings. And then there’s the worst part: INSECTS. During the screening, multiple people in my group had insects literally fall onto them—yes, actual bugs. This wasn’t a forgotten, aging screening room showing a midday matinee from years ago—this was a theater screening a new release. The fact that this happened in one of their “main” theaters is completely unacceptable. If the management can’t be bothered to maintain even basic cleanliness, then what does that say about the rest of their operations?
Final Verdict: Avoid at All Costs Paragon Cineplex is a colossal disappointment. It overcharges while delivering a worse experience than its competitors. The screen quality is lacking, the sound system is weak, the seating and ambiance are poorly maintained, and the hygiene levels are outright disgusting—with actual insects falling on guests. If you’re considering watching a movie here, DON’T. SF Cinema, or honestly any other theater, will give you a significantly better experience for your money. 1/5....
Read moreLike other Major Cineplexes around Thailand these mall installments focuses heavily on blockbuster cheaps, megamillion franchises and the occasional major studio drama screenings often with their ridiculous usual high seat prices and luxurious indulgents often meant for social media photographs then improving the actual movie going experience, compared to the quality of films and the prices at places like Doc Club and Pub or House Samyan often you end up paying more but getting less in return due to the film selections available but the Paragon cinema with the large amount of screening rooms unlike the other one spread out around this country also means more films are shown and thus although it is the exception and I would still recommend going to House Samyan or Doc Club for better films and prices overall Paragon is neat in its selection of films from time to time, not often but whenever they decide to play actual quality films the sound and image quality is always worth the high price its just unfortunate its not that often that they choose to showcase the latest of indie, documentary, foreign or arthouse cinema so just choose the film wisely cause the cost could be a bit much especially films that aren't worth while but when it is its a really good way of experiencing great cinema but the key word of course is when they choose to show it over the tiring factory produced action or superhero films that seems endlessly manufactured and just like the Simpsons probably won't die until a bomb drops on us, but before that happens watch out for any good films playing and if they do go to Paragon, their cinema is large and has good variety of selections from...
Read moreThe cinemas here are more better compared to our experience in CentralwOrld. Screen is bigger, though the restrooms are still far away but better in distance and cleanliness, compared to our experience with the other cinema. I still miss the cinemas with their restrooms near their main door and you can even hear the audio in speakers inside restrooms of the movie you are watching in our Country. I have not seen 1 yet here in Bangkok. The ticket price here is much the same in our Country. The cinema staff here checks all tickets for 6 cinemas. Not the usual thing in our Country where it is on the entrance door of each cinema and some even have ushers inside to guide moviegoers. I also noticed this difference about screening time, most of the time in my Country when the screening time is like 4 pm, the movie will really start at 4 pm, so they allow you to enter 10 to 15 minutes before that to watch some previews of other movies, here even if we want to enter 10 minutes before the screening time, they won't allow us and when we enter at the exact screening time, they will only start showing previews. Those are things I just observed as a foreigner here.
While watching the movie, a moviegoer was talking so loud on his cp and since there are no staffs around, the other moviegoers are just looking at each other, like waiting if someone will call the attention of the man. The cinema doesn't smell bad, that's one important thing for me, Sound System is also good. Popcorn is also better. There are available elevators for pwd and elderly. Unless I experience a better cinema than this, I think I will...
