Worst we have ever been treated in any establishment.
Echoing a similar review from back in the summer, we went for a family day out in Bourton-on-the-Water and decided (unfortunately) to try this place. I've been to Bourton-on-the-Water a good few times and have always experienced lovely friendly people with brilliant customer service, not this place. Two of our party were visiting Bourton-on-the-Water for the first time. This was their first experience.
Some of our party had already ordered food and drinks whilst I took my young son to get the food that he always has when we go to Bourton-on-the-Water as well as something for me as this café did not have anything for my dietary requirements. I returned with my son and had no intention of eating anything, but ordered a coffee.
My son, started eating his food (as young children do) and the owner then came over to complain that we cannot eat food from other establishments here. I explained the reason and stated that I had ordered a coffee and my family were eating their food and drinks that they had ordered in this café. The owner then came back another two times to say that we were in the wrong and said 'you wouldn't take food from another place into a restaurant and eat it?'. I quickly asked for my coffee to go and left with my son. The coffee was not good and certainly not worth the £3.25 it cost when compared to the other two establishments (The Den and Coffee Hub) just across the street which have divine coffees.
The rest of the family, feeling publicly humiliated by the owner's attitude and manners in front of all of the other customers, finished their food hastily and left. They told me that the pumpkin soup was lacking in flavour, seemed quite watery and wouldn't hold up to a tin of shop bought soup and a million miles away from the pumpkin soup from Magic Juice (Camden Market) which we had a few weeks ago.
A nasty experience which we hope to forget and not let taint our image of this wonderful town.
Adding a reply to the owner. Four of the group of five (excluding the child) bought items in this establishment, the child (who did not purchase anything) did not use the toilet or any of the facilities. My comment about the coffee was that it simply wasn't that good when compared to neighbouring establishments, and regarding the soup, squash or pumpkin (pumpkin is a type of squash in any case) the review of it is...
Read moreWhat an absolute delight of a find! The food here is super fresh and absolutely delicious. The staff are really friendly and the decor is nice and relaxing.
The super wide range of homemade food is unreal. If I could eat here every day for every meal, I'd be very happy indeed! We ate I'm for breakfast a couple of times and also ordered takeaway for lunch. Cost-wise, we spent on average about £10 to £16 each. This included drinks and cake on top of a full breakfast.
The home made cakes are insanely amazing. I am not a cake person at all, but I ended up buying 5 cakes from here. We had the Bakewell, rhubarb crumble and brownie.
For breakfast we had a full English (they allowed us to swap black pudding for bacon), a home made bap with bacon, sausage and egg. The sausage patties also appear to be home made. They are delightful. If they sold them to make at home, I'd have bought some! My daughter had the avocado, feta and sundried tomatoes on feta. She said it is by far the best she has had. My youngest son had toast on day one and waffle in day two.
We loved it so much that we had it all again on day two.
My only feedback to the staff would be to improve your marketing from the outside. It's a competitive area and the dark colours did not stand out. We only found you by accident. Some brighter colours or (if possible) a hanging sign over the door arch. Even when we came back the next day, we struggled to find exactly...
Read moreWould have given this place zero if i could have. Arrived yesterday and sat down with my husband and parents . Baring in mind i am 6 MONTHS PREGNANT . Decieded to order tea as i had been on my feet all day and everywhere else was very busy and packed .My family just wanted crisps and juice . WE WERE REFUSED SERVICE AND ASKED TO LEAVE BY THE OWNER !!!! She said " my cafe is very small and 4 people at one table just for tea and crisps is not enough sorry . We were so embarrassed we just got up and left . Honestly most awful treatment I've ever experienced in my life and especially being pregnant . WOULD NOT RECOMMEND and we visit this area often and are usually met at all other establishments with a friendly welcome . ......response ...... In response to your shady comments i am also disabled not that my disability is visible, so you presumed wrong lady . Also my Dad stormed out because you are the rudest person we ever encountered .Same way you have signs saying no laptops. Also you charge above the surcharge required by law to eat in . Accusing people of bullying because you have no customer service and a bad attitude is unacceptable . Also we sat at one table not two . So now it seems you will lie and go to any lengths to prove your point. As i said in my review. Zero stars . Argumentative, confrontational , refused service and would never return ohh and now I've been called a bully for stating my...
