Simply the worst estate agent I have had the pleasure of dealing with in Leicester. I am in my third year at university and for the past 2 years have lived elsewhere and had no issues. I decided to go with Parmar's for my third year, purely because on first look the rooms were spacious and the staff seemed extremely friendly, which you'd expect for the price I'm paying (£110pw + £720 deposit).
On the room tour, they boasted of extremely fast internet and the fact that ALL bills are included- 'you'll NEVER have to pay a bill'. However, everything changed once I paid my reservation fee and decided to move in. They only allowed me to see the contract ON the day of moving, which understandably put me ina difficult position, forcing me to sign it despite my reservations- as I would have effectively been homeless. The contract stated that i now have a £300 restriction on my electricity for the year and MUST buy contents insurance, even though i rang beforehand and they stated that it wasn't an absolute requirement to do so. When i enquired about why I hadn't been told about this before, they simply stated that 'that's how it is' and that was it. From this point on, the staff were no longer professional or helpful and any further enquiries I had were met with a lack of concern consistently, which appeared routine for them.
When i went to my room, i noticed that there wasn't wifi for me to connect to, despite ALL advertisements saying that they would provide me with wifi. After numerous enquires that took over a week , they finally admitted that there wasn't actually wifi. They suggested that I should buy my own wifi router, and again that 'that's how it is'. All of my flatmates had these same issues, but because they were all international students, were not confident in voicing these issues and simply accepted what had happened. After retrieving my wifi router, I soon noticed that the internet is extremely intermittent- not working for the majority of evenings and some mornings, which understandably for a student is extremely inconvenient. I am now in the process of complaining about this- (have been down a few times and been fobbed off every single time). They have since put a notice up saying that we can pay for own internet separately for £30-40 a month. This is ridiculous considering the amount of confidence they had when they stated that I would never have an internet issue.
Just to add the icing to the cake, we cannot control our own heating and although they told me that they switch it on for an hour in the morning and evening, I have never experienced this. They have also explicitly forbidden the use of electric heaters both verbally and in the tenancy agreement which basically means the room isn't as comfortable as you'd expect for £110 a week.
Overall, I am only a couple of months into my contract and would jump at the opportunity at leaving with my money. I now await the struggle to retrieve my deposit back at the end of the year after reading previous reviews, which is not ideal. They are only helpful to you until you have handed your money over, and after that all exchanges are met with annoyance and disregard for your concerns. I will not be staying with them next year and urge all others not to. I live in TK Court but have friends in their other properties who are having exactly the same problems. The amount of hassle associated is not worth...
Read moreI have only given one star because i cant give any less If you're looking for a property that comes with a shed full of * in Leicester this is the place for you!!! The shed includes but is not limited to: 2 full buckets (contents unknown), an old leather sofa (rat * included) and plenty of wooden and metal plates. On top of this, internet is provided, however if you intend on using it whilst one of the other 10 people in the property is using it you are likely to struggle to load a web page in under 10 minutes. This is one of the perks of having "super fast internet with speeds up to 130Mb/s" But of course if you are having issues with the internet you are able to call up the estate agent where a team of wonderful staff review the issue and come up with the same solution without fail, that is sending one man to reset the router which is kept in a locked room. Does this make any difference to the quality of the internet? No, but they do it anyway. This is just a glimpse of living within parmars accomodation, but I assure that upon moving in you will instantly regret your decision and ask yourself "why didn't i buy a tent?" DO NOT be tempted by the cheap prices, and please read all of the reviews on here, i made the mistake of not reading the reviews and i do not want you to suffer too. P.S. if you are wondering how i sent this email, I connect to my laptop using the 4g on my phone because the internet doesn't...
Read moreFor god sake what a bunch of crooks. The flat was quite gross, the hoven was all burnt inside and literraly impossible to clean and use, broken microwave. Heating working 4h/24, no cold water in bathroom tho a guy came 2 times it didn't get fixed, internet was this weak we had to pay for having a decent one. Also, they're not clean about money stuff, when they had to refund my deposit, they said they couldn't do any international transfer when they promised me to do it before I leave UK. C'mon, you're an estate agent, in 2K18, with a lot of strangers students renting your flats, and you can't do that ?! That's not serious. Something very instrusive was the visits, every wednesday Mr Parmars and his crew did visit our rooms to others strangers when we just started rent it. Can't you just respect some privacy ? You really need to make money at this point or ?
Finally, if you have any choice between this estate agent and an other one, just pick the other. Worst estate agent...
