Canary Wharf and West India Quay isn't for everyone with its soaring skyscrapers, but for me I love it. Sure, it doesn't have the old school charm or architecture found in affluent West London, but it's other worldly here in London financial other district. What I love about West India Quay are the bars and restaurants that line this small and clean cosmopolitan area of London. It's full of fine and casual restaurants such as Burger & Lobster, Pizza Pilgrim, and even a Wetherspoon pub. What's more, every lunch time, street food vendors set up their stall offering a global fare from Korean to Mexican. It's pretty quiet during the harsh, cold winter, but expect WIQ to be lively as people come out to enjoy the sunshine in one of the many restaurant outside patio. There's more than meets the eye at WIQ. There's a gym, a cinema and even a museum which happens to be one of the best in London, The London Docklands Museum. Come to West India Quay for the restaurants and the museum if you're in the area, I recommend it, especially in the summer.

I took a Russian visit to enjoy the DLR, and I encouraged him to get off at the West India Quay station so that we could explore this museum. It's very visitor-friendly, with lots of signage and explanations . It was practically deserted due to being New Year's Eve, which is a shame, as it takes you back through hundreds of years of history of this East End area. I love the recreation of actual old streets and shops, and the depiction of the effect of both World Wars. Outside, there are great water views and coffee and pub venues for refreshment. That's me in among the lights nearby! It's always an eye-opener to visit here, particular if the weather is rotten outside. A delightful and informative oasis.

West India Quay is a quarter connected to Canary Wharf. It is a sectioned quarter that houses outdoor eating and drinking establishments. Ranging from Caribbean, Mediterranean, Burgers, Pizza and European dining experiences. There is a bar and pub for drinking. A cinema is behind the outdoor establishments for your movie entertainment. A cafe with a Sheesa Garden. Docklands Museum is on the quarter providing a historical look at the area. There are also wellness venues inside providing health and beauty treatments and services. A perfect place to visit on sunny days for outdoor socialising. Even when the weather fails there is also plenty of indoor activities to escape the elements. West India Quay provides enough distractions for any occasion and...
