My two kids and I went to check this place out and we really enjoyed it. When you first arrive you have the option of paying for an hour ($5/person) or all day play ($10/person). We went for the hour option and for that, they give you a nametag clip with your time written on it. It's basically just a reminder of when your hour is up. So that part is "on your honor" to keep track of.
When you first walk in there is a couch to your left which is for people to hang out and chill while their kids/friends are playing games. To your right is the counter where beverages are served (including beers) and of course where you pay.
The left side is a row of classic arcade games and on the right side, half are arcade games while the other half are pinball games. Once you pay your admission, everything is free. So you can play whatever games you want as many times as you want, etc.
At the back is the restroom which is actually semi-upscale and nice (not something scary that looks like it hasn't been cleaned since the 80's). They have a couple stools you can use and the games are equipped with "beer or waterbottle holders" near the base
We went Saturday morning just after they opened (Noon) and there were a handful of people. By the time we left it was getting busier but there were still plenty of games available.
The overall vibe is great though. The guy at the front is super friendly and helpful. He said they get or rotate different games every few weeks or so. For example, they'll be getting Karate Champ in pretty soon. There's no loud music blaring in the background and it's a place younger kids as well as older kids can enjoy.
Now if you're newer to the arcade scene and thinking it might be fun, a great approach is to play the two player games with another person. Some of these games by themselves can be a little too "old school" and quickly lose their appeal after a few plays. BUT, if you're playing against another person then it can really bring these games to life. My son and I were playing Asteroids back and forth and loved it. Then my daughter and I were trying to figure out how to get past the second level of Donkey Kong, lol... (Tron and Pac Man were always more my speed, haha).
For us the hour was just right, it gave us something else fun to do downtown, it's a chance for me to re-live the 80's and for my kids to experience a little bit of the thrill of an old-school arcade.
I'm thrilled to see this business in Bend and hope they stay...
Read moreI love the retro gaming!!! If you grew up in the 70-80's you will love this place, you can get beer or ciders on tap, due to tariffs, some costs are upped so, pinball machines ate a quarter, way better than Dave and Buster's who give a minute or two of game play gorgeous two bucks , morning matter how skilled you are. The owner us really cool, interesting man very knowledgeable about the games and their history. I watched him give a tutorial to a young man on how to be a "pinball wizard'. It's in Bend Oregon, just $5 perhour. Yes, kids are welcome, teach your kids or grandkids how to be a...
Read moreCool little place, but it would have been nice to see a larger variety of newer games. 70% of the arcade machines were old classic 80s games (Dig Dug, Asteriods, Missile Command) which although are wonderfully nostalgic, they do get old. And most of them were completely unoccupied which seemed like a waste of space. I'm rating it a 4 stars because of the outstanding price and perfect fit in Bend. Just get a few more newer games in there for us nineties kids! (Area 51, MvC2, House...
