First here!
Playpie has been my anticipated go to business for toddlers and kids , because of the convenience of the location and the environment.
This Family friendly/kid friendly indoor playground consists of state of the art brand new playground equipments and books for all.
It is scheduled to open on November 18th, 2018 (Sunday) and I have been eyeing the opening of the business for past several months.
I'm solely submitting this review on the business's LOCATION, CONVENIENCE, PRICE, AND VALUE.
Location is great. Its inside OC source mall (Near Beach Blvd and Orangethorpe) which is predominantly Korean businesses with Korean employees, but nobody judges here other than maybe employees speaking English less fluently?
Parking is FREE....FREE!!! Cant get better than that. All day, everyday. It gets crowded during weekends, but it has 4 floors plus the roof parking , and elevator located in every floor along with steps, you really can't complain.
Price is what i expected. It runs $16.95 for toddlers over 2, $10.95 for 1-2 year olds, under 1 is free, and every adult pays $4.95. So parents of a 1 child should cost you the all day pass with re-Entry for around $29-30 including tax. That's all day entry, so you can let kids play, go out and eat and comeback if you wanted to for that price. That is a bargain and a great business strategy in my mind. Not sure if they might change that near future, but lets just hope they keep it that way.
They DO NOT have inside kitchen or food court, but they have catering menu for birthday parties and for kids events. The staff i spoke with confirmed that they will roll out catering menu and they have certain vendors they work with, so they will bring the food to your reserved room for the day.
The value in overall seems great and better than near by indoor playgrounds, since 90% of them were built long time ago and doesn't have the fancy+newer equipments that Playpie offers.
They also have gender neutral restroom, not sure if they have a diaper changing station, but will post updated review after my initial visit soon. I usually take my baby girl to Billy Beez, but it gets super crowded during weekends and there are like middle school kids pushing little ones, so you gotta consider those factors too.
Like I mentioned at the beginning of the review, this business is not opened yet, so the review excludes customer service, staff friendliness, how staff handles issues, and customer quality. After all, not trying to be rude but you just want safe environment and people around your kid as a parent. Nobody wants bullies, homeless, rude people, cursing, hitting, and etc when youre kid is playing.
I will post updated review after initial visit within 2 weeks. Also more detailed pics...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe place definitely has poor capacity management and inexperience with incident handling. I was pretty upset how the staff dealt with my situation. My 3 year old girl was pushed off of the a single lane bridge by a grown 8-9 year old boy that was running around the playground disrespecting younger kid's space. My 3 year old was a bit slow crossing a bridge, the boy on the opposite direction didn't wait for my 3 year old and pretty much went over her and she fell, I thought the boy didn't mean it so I told my girl to get back up and the boy then just waited in the area until my 3 year old went back up crossing the bridge for the 2nd time and the boy just gave my 3 year old a kick to shove her off of the bridge, clearly it was intentional and my 3 year old fell and started crying, lucky she wasn't hurt. I tried finding out who the boy's parent is by asking several times out loud, no parent step forward until I went to the staff to asked the boy to be kicked out and then the parent appeared out of nowhere and apparently she was sitting in the back the whole time and did not say anything. Staff then just watched me argue with parent back and forth for solid 5-10 minutes without saying anything. The mom basically is justifying boy's action because the boy is autistic, not that I'm not sympathetic but it doesn't justify boy's bad action of intentionally trying to hurt someone. Again staff didn't seem to have taken any action against the parent and the boy, at least not to my knowledge as staff did not inform me in any way or check if my kid was okay or if they're going to do something about it. In the end, I just left instead of just waiting for something to happen. It definitely felt like the place is just trying to pack as many people as they can without any consequences to maximize profit and there were definitely way too many kids/people in such a small place that day. After this incident, I don't think I'll be going back. Always keep an eye out for your kid, don't expect other kids/parents to behave with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI booked my sons 3rd birthday party here because of how great their party package sounded but it was not at all what was advertised. The theme was suppose to be Lightyear and I had previously messaged the party coordinator a few times with pictures to make sure there was no confusion. When I arrived there was a huge pink balloon backdrop in the room and I was told that it could not be removed and that the decorations would have to go around it! This was a boys Lightyear party and the pink arch was not part of the theme!! They not only had the pink arch but, they also mixed toy story decorations and black and white balloons. I was not happy as I did not pay for the premium package but I had upgraded to the ultimate package for all the extra theme decoration perks. I asked to speak to a manager and I was told that they are only remote and they could not give me their name because it's not allowed. the manager doesn't let their name be disclosed. Ok I've never heard of this. In order to make this work I went in to the room and started to help the staff fix the room because it was just a disaster. At this point there wasn't much I could do as it was already party time.
Then to top it off the food!! They didn't have the salads I had ordered prior to the party. Then they arrived without salad dressing and one hour later after everyone had eaten.
This was the first time I had a party at a indoor playground and must say it was the worse experience.
I will not be back! I do not recommend having a party here so please do yourself a favor and do not trust their party planner!!! You will not get what you pay for!
1 week after the party and the manager never bothered to contact me. The worse customer service.
Attached are some photos of the decorations at the end. Please keep in mind that one of those balloon bouquets were brought in by one...
