We have visited Regal theaters with 4DX in several states and locations but we never had an experience like the one we just experienced here in Orlando Fl. While on vacation.
Before purchasing 3 tickets to see DC Pets in 4 DX like we normally do. I asked the door attendant does my child need a ticket or can he sit in my lap. We have been supporting Regal theater 4 DX since he was a little baby. I was told he can sit in my lap or have his own seat if I purchased him one. My child was with me when I asked. We purchased 3 tickets and left to eat at The Main Event downstairs.
After returning from our pre movie meal we were accosted by someone else with a radio at the door rudely asking do we have tickets and which movie we were going to see. I told him. He asked me did we know where to go. I replied yes and continued to walk to the screen where the movie was showing when we were accosted and denied access to a movie we had already paid for.
His reason was my son is not over 3 feet tall. When in fact he is over 3ft. tall. The day before we left for vacation approximately 8 days ago he had a Drâs appointment and itâs recorded by a Dr. that he is in fact over 3 ft tall. My significant other and I thought that it was kind of weird being that our child has been to several 4DX movies in other states and had been at the same theater same location here more than twice with no problems.
We noticed It was also weird that he only stopped people of color in the same manner. And didnât bother to approach non people of color with small children.
Before purchasing tickets on the website on the kiosk or anywhere visible or where it should be before during or after purchase that there was a height requirement to watch the movie. When my significant other asked where do you measure and where is the policy stating that and where is it posted. They couldnât they said that they use the counter to measure not a measure stick or anything similar when asked for corporate numbers and management and the policy that states that. They said they couldnât refer me to their superiors because they were the higher ups and the superiors.
And became even more rude and even more belligerent refusing to give us the proper respect and number to call to report this incident.
And ,the guy that accosted us began yelling and berated me pointing his finger in my face when I asked him why is he not confronting the other people with small children like he just did us. When brought to his attention the guy who claims to be the general manager escalated the situation by calling security and threatening to call the sheriff department to the scene.
Security and Sheriff department came and also agreed and confirmed that the counter is in fact much more than 3 ft tall and not an effective way to measure a childâs height. Nor was height restriction posted.
The guy who claims to be general manager and the lady working with him then began to put height requirements on a remote small screen when we made notice it wasnât posted and after we made purchase.
This has been the worst movie experience we ever encountered and now our child is not only highly disappointed but is now traumatized by the way the employees at Regal theaters acted and treated us.
He keeps talking about the man that was yelling at his mother and putting his finger in her face and why we canât see the movie. I feel so violated. And disrespected as a patron.
Most of the incident was caught on camera and being that management had no interest in resolving the situation other than refunding the money insulting and calling security and sheriffs on paying customers with a valid point.
Until they do something about the management and staff. I would not recommend anyone going to this place. Itâs not about the $70 we paid to watch a movie or race itâs about the disappointment and disrespect in front of our child in a place we patronizing and lack...

(This review focuses on the IMAX experience)
I absolutely love this cineplex! I moved to Orlando in 2009 and my first movie here was the first Avatar so the IMAX auditorium in particular and I go way back. Itâs been upgraded in various aspects over time like seats, the screen, floors, etc. and we greatly appreciate it!
Itâs the only âtrueâ large screen IMAX not only just in Central Florida but the entire region above Ft. Lauderdale. Itâs almost 80ft tall or so. The sound is just unbelievable and even rumored to be more powerful than some of the more popular and newer â70mmâ IMAX theaters in places like LA or NY. Weâre talking theme park levels of fun in this theater! This Regal also has an awesome 4DX experience but IMAX doesnât distract from the film itself, itâs still an incredible experience.
Why 4 stars though? Regal, pleaseâŠitâs time for an IMAX projector upgrade here asap. Thereâs a pretty big community that spans from here to Tampa to Jacksonville of IMAX fans who are all aware that this IMAX needs a new 70mm projector.
It wasnât until recently with both Tron: Ares and Predator Badlands (premiere Friday night) that there are finally noticeable âparticlesâ near the top of the image threshold/top of the screen. Almost like small digital blocks every once in a while. At first we thought it was something intentional in Tron: Ares during the âgridâ scenes but then it carried over into the rest of the movie. The projector is also a bit dim overall. For some reason the small lights at the bottom of the screen are always left on which already dims the screen somewhat, so the aging projector isnât helping with that.
IMAX in itself is finally a very popular and household name. People fly out to other states that show âtrueâ 70mm IMAX screenings like Dune or Christopher Nolan films, I know it sounds crazy but apparently itâs that serious haha. Regal Pointe Orlando could become an even more wildly popular movie theater if a new 70mm projector is finally brought into town in the middle of the theme park capital of the world!
As always, this is our go-to for the epic IMAX experiences and weâll back all year! Thanks for the great...
Read moreFirst time visit and first time 4DX experience. The theater building itself is very well done visually and has all of what you would need at a theater... Ambiance, food, drinks, games, etc...
Parking in the garage is free, if you use the QR code in the theater lobby and submit your license plate number. Not sure if there's a limit, but I got at least 3 hours free.
However, the following only applies to those that are handicapped or with someone who is. For the 4DX theater we were in, the handicap seating is at the TOP of the theater, not the lower level like most theaters I've been to. Unless you get the elevator code (Guest Services or Phone #), you will have to climb about 2 stories worth of stairs. The elevator and your instructions to get to the top of the theater were not explained at all, just given the code and told to use it however we needed to. The signing on each level was lacking and neither of the upper floors looked like a public access space.
Reviewing of the 4DX experience - Seats were very uncomfortable to me, similar to sitting on a full upright hard bleacher at a sporting event. Perhaps it's that way to maximize the vibrations that come through, but it's no comfy recliner in a normal theater setting. Depending on the situation, the seats can get pretty wild and you feel like you could slip out of them if you're not holding on.
Find the right movie to experience 4DX and I can imagine the possibilities, however, the movie I watched could have done without it or at least had the IMAX quality version of the movie and not the VHS looking one. Watched the IMAX version of the title in a different theater a few days prior and was Blown Away by that experience! There was no comparison!
Most of the review shouldn't take away from the overall venue, because most will use the normal theaters, so I'll only remove a single star.
Traveling as far as we did for this enhanced experience wasn't really worth it (only two 4DX theater within 35 miles showing specific title), but if you're closer, it...
