All I can say to maddi Brandt, I'm sorry you had a bad day because the "blonde girl with the nose ring" was following the corporate policy. A policy that she did not write, but has to enforce. I personally go to this theater often and have never had a spring go right up my butt. Perhaps the seats feel grimy because they don't have 100 pple working there 12 hours a day 7 days a week to individually wipe down EVERY seat after EVERY show. So if you calculate it there are 15 individual theaters in this particular AMC theater with an average of 200 seats per 15 theaters, with an average of 15 shows showing every 2.5 hours. Sooooo that's 3,0000 seats that need to be individually cleaned every 2.5 hours PLUS selling tickets, food, candy, cleaning the bathrooms, lobby, and not to mention monitoring each theater, running the show, and dealing with ungrateful "Karen's and kevins". If movie goers were more consciousness and didnt spill their drinks, and food everywhere or perhaps at least half attempted to clean up their mess when leaving the theaters wouldnt be "dirty, and grimmy." Now with regard to over priced concession stand type food.... well it's the Dells one of the USAs number one tourist areas. Of course it's going to be over priced and not tantalize your taste buds. As a local that goes here frequently the understaffed, underpaid, few DEDICATED employees do a wonderful job trying to do the best that they can do with thousands of people coming through daily. Great job to every AMC employee at this...
Read moreI've been going to The Desert Star Cinema since I was born. Through my 21 years this place has gone through more owner/management changes than Joan River's face has had plastic surgery. AMC has taken the reigns the past few years and I am slowly feeling more disdain towards the theater and everything that it represents. First and foremost it's prices are ridiculous. I realize they have to be expensive to pay for employees, tickets, new projector ext. But for GODS SAKE I CANT SPEND 20 DOLLARS A PIECE PAYING FOR ME AND A FRIEND TO SEE PLANES IN 3D!! I understand that the location is in the Dells and, not saying any names, but out-of-staters have lots of money and want to spoil their kids with vacations. But us locals, who have been supporting you since DAY ONE are having a hard time footing the bill just to take the family out for a movie and popcorn. Lastly but not least this weekend (8/30/2013) my mother, myself and a friend were planning on seeing The Grandmaster. Amazing looking movie if you're into foreign Chinese films. AMC desert star plays trailers for the movie and has posters up for it. The release date is today AND, however, they will not be playing the Grandmaster this weekend. All other AMC theaters in Wisconsin i.e. Fitchburg and the silly one in the Wauwatosa mall are all playing it. Disappointed. AMC get your...
Read moreAbsolutely worst movie expirience I have ever had! We went for the 11:45 showing of the Lion King and the theater we went into was absolutely filthy. They had technical difficulties and we were asked to move to the next theater over for the 12:30 showing, which was understandable these things happen, but the theater we were moved to was even worse off! There was food in the aisles and undet the chairs and spills. It smelled horrible! Under my seat were an empty nacho container with half eaten cheese and loads of popcorn. In front of my seat in the aisle it looked like someone had chewed up chocolate and spit it on the floor. What makes it worse was that we were the first showing of the day IN BOTH THEATERS! I alerted the manager and he didn't even offer to have it cleaned. As if that wasn't bad enough the movie itself wasn't even fit to the screen and was distorted and odd looking. The only speakers that appeared to be working were the ones at the very front of the theater. I've never had a bad expirience at this theater before but after this time I don't think I'll ever be coming back....
