My significant other, dog, and I came here for a relaxing activity. We walked up to the Tickets area to purchase our tickets. Each ticket was $36.30 with the sales tax already included. Our total for two people was $72.60. It wasn’t too bad. Luckily, my dog was free!
Before we boarded the boat, our photograph was taken. That was a pleasant way to start things off and gain excitement for what was to come. After that, we walked to the line to board the Wisconsin Duck. We were able to board fast and only waited what seemed to be five minutes.
During the ride on this amphibious vehicle, we drove through miles of scenic wilderness trails, the Wisconsin river, and Lake Delton. To explore both a river and a lake on the same tour was definitely exciting! On the Wisconsin River, we were able to see dells, which is what Wisconsin Dells is named after! That’s enough of a reason for you to pack a bag and go as soon as possible in my opinion.
Our tour guide was friendly and seemed to have plenty of experience. He also had a great vibe. He offered a guidebook and post cards towards the end of the ride for $5.00. I ended up purchasing them. I gave him $20.00, so he had a $15.00 tip for the warm hospitality he provided. I definitely recommend that you buy these items if they’re offered to you on your tour. It was nice to take some history home with me.
After we hopped off the boat, we walked towards the Photo Gallery. This was where they sold us our photograph that was taken before we boarded the Duck. I ended up purchasing the package that included six photographs and a keychain for $20.00. It was worth the price in my opinion!
After I purchased the package, we went inside the PX Store. They had a good selection of items that were organized nicely. I ended up purchasing a Ducks Logo Keychain for $2.99 and a Ducks Scenic Tee for $19.99 for myself. I purchased items for my significant other as well, which helped our total exceed a certain amount that granted us a free tote bag. The prices weren’t bad here at all.
Overall, this was an awesome place to visit! I feel like it’s a necessity for anyone visiting the Dells, as you will most likely learn a lot of history during your tour. I highly recommend it and I’m almost positive I’ll be back!

Read moreWe always Love the Original Duck Tour...but this year was a bit disappointing.
Memorial Day Weekend, they are cranking out the Ducks every 15 min. You will drive streets, forest trails, Lake Delton, Dell Creek and the Wisconsin River.
The creek was so high, that we put down wheels and drove on the creek bottom. The tour seems sped up from years past. Much of the forest trails are done at break neck speed, with everyone holding onto the seats ahead of them and hard to take pics. Smaller children were having a hard time staying seated. They can only reach about 11 knots in water, so that is still relaxing. The environment is still as beautiful as ever.
The jokes of the duck captain are about the same for decades. The little kids still sit wide eyed as you go back and forth between land and water.
Be aware that when you enter Lake Delton, the front seats will get some spray of water...the back seats will be absolutely soaked!!! We were not prepared for how soaked we got in the back row!!!
Everything before that had been a joke. They should have been serious and warned people to put electronic devices away!!! Everyone's cell phones were soaked! Several people were very angry about this! We had to take off cell phone cases, turn off phones, try to dry them with our dry shirts in the front, as our backs were absolutely SOAKED! One child about 3, in the second to last seat, was so horrified at the amount of water soaking him, that he began to howl! The amount of water sloshing in the floor boards actually caused the bilge pumps to engage. One Woman Loudly Proclaimed that she would file a law suit if her $1000+ phone shuts down for water damage!!!
This also made the floor and steps so slippery when we returned to the Duck Launch, that several people were slipping trying to exit! Our shirts, pants, shoes, socks were so soaked that 3 hours later we could not bare to be inside in the AC to eat dinner.
It can be fun if you are prepared for the brake neck speed, have a water protector for your cell phone and leave your designer leather purse behind, as mine is still soaked with with lake water 6 hours later. Also make sure you have other walking shoes to change into, or you will have wet feet for a...

We recently went on a Duck Tour in Wisconsin Dells, and it was exactly what you’d hope for from a Dells tradition — fun, scenic, a little bumpy, and full of personality.
First off, our driver/guide was fantastic — a younger guy who kept the entire group laughing from the moment we boarded. He had the perfect mix of quick wit, cheesy jokes (the good kind), and fun facts about the area. His energy made the ride feel more like a comedy adventure than just a sightseeing tour. Definitely one of the highlights of the experience.
The tour itself lasted about an hour, which felt like the perfect amount of time. We covered quite a bit of ground — and water. It’s always a cool experience when a vehicle drives straight into the water and turns into a boat. That never gets old.
We passed through some beautiful wooded areas, got to see the iconic sandstone formations the Dells are known for, and even spotted a deer along the trail, which was a nice surprise. The natural surroundings really added to the tour’s charm.
Now for the real talk: the seating situation. I’m 6’1”, and let’s just say this ride was not designed with tall people in mind. The legroom was tight. My kneecaps were pretty much pressed into the back of the seat in front of me the entire ride. The seats themselves were fine — not uncomfortable in terms of cushion or support — but if you’re taller than average, prepare for a bit of a squeeze.
That said, the discomfort was minor in the grand scheme of things and didn’t ruin the experience. If anything, it’s part of the old-school, rugged charm of these World War II-era vehicles.
Final thoughts: The Duck Tour is a must-do if you’re visiting the Dells for the first time or even just want to relive some classic family vacation memories. It’s fun, lighthearted, full of great views, and the guides bring a ton of personality. I’d absolutely do it again — just maybe after a...
