I booked a 3 night stay (thur 3/20-sat 3/23) at building 1, attached to the indoor waterpark. I reserved for 3 adults and two small children. Upon checking in I was told I was only allowed 2 adults, and if there was a third staying it would be almost a $300/night additional charge. For one adult. The employee told me to just buy a daily wristband and it would be fine, but we found out that guest didn’t get a parking pass and was not allowed TOWELS AT THE WATERPARK. Smh. I then found out that there would be NO housekeeping/towel or bed turn over during our THREE NIGHT stay. They monitor towels in each room, so we were expected to use the same 4 bath towels for 4 days, and keep all our bagged trash in our hotel room. I’m sure we could have asked for new towels, but upon giving our used ones in return which felt off-putting enough that we just took extra towels from the wooden storage bins they leave open in the hallways during room cleanings. There also is a significant lack of table-tops, and zero dresser/drawers in the rooms. We had one very small nightstand between the two beds (with no drawer, but don’t worry, there was a phone that had a cut cable?) which was about 2 feet away from each bed. One table on the opposite wall (no drawers, obviously) accompanied by two wooden chairs
The beds were standard, as well as the sheets (though very scratchy), and they did provide plenty of pillows. But the blankets? If you can call them that, consisted of a knitted blanket (which was thinner and less comforting than their towels) and a weird sheet-type patterned overlay, that didn’t even fit the whole bed. My kids and I brought our own favorite blankets, but my friend literally went to the local Walmart to buy one because she was so cold and uncomfortable the first night.
My children are young, so we stayed in the ONLY small-kid friendly area of the waterpark. The first two days, there wasn’t a single lifeguard watching the entire area, a few parents including myself had to signal when kids could safely go down slides, get kids out of the way at the bottom, etc. Saturday a lifeguard was at the top of the slides, not letting anyone go down for minutes at a time. We couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t letting anyone go down, there were 3 slides and 20 kids waiting on the steps. He’d let one go down a slide and a min later let another one go down a different one. It almost seemed like he was drunk, he would just sit and talk with the kids while they were just trying to go down the slides. Parents started going up with their kids, just to get them through.
I alao saw multiple occurrences of children being very unattended to or in care of visibly INTOXICATED adults. That’s going to happen when you have a full bar in the waterpark, but that’s when the LIFEGUARDS should be paying attention. Impaired lifeguards and impaired parents of children, it was hard to be apart of it all. An instance got so out of control with a drunk parent that the POLICE were called and a man was wrestled to the ground and ARRESTED in the middle of the waterpark- in front of his own and dozens of other children. Will absolutely not return,...
Read moreWe stayed at the Bluegreen Odyssey that is attached to the Mt. Olympus hotel so we received passes to the water and theme park with our stay. Access to the water park was a long walk and elevators were usually busy. We had to walk through the indoor waterpark just to get to the indoor theme park which was a little inconvenient. The indoor theme park is definitely made for 10 and under which might be a stretch. The arcade is okay, but pricy. Typical overpricing to play and earn tickets with meh prizes that I could’ve purchased at the dollar store for way less. I have three kids under 7 so they had fun and we were able to see the Easter Bunny so it was worth it for them. Now the water park. Again, the kids had fun, HOWEVER… it was so overcrowded that I was worried the entire time trying to keep an eye on the kids. Even in the kiddie pool, there were too many adults just standing around creating too many blind spots. I’m not sure why they would have direct access to the deeper pool through the toddler area. There were many children unsupervised attempting to swim to the bigger pool. The kiddie slides were fun for the littles. The pool water was a bit too cold and a little murky looking. My kids all had rashes when getting out of the water. There was generally nowhere to set your stuff down because people “claimed” several seats and/or just left wet towels there when leaving. Speaking of towels, they were very inconveniently located and basically a rough hand towel. Perfect for small children but barely covered a leg on an adult. There were far too many unsupervised, rude, and feral children running around. We tried enjoying the kid friendly warming pool twice and despite the sign saying 20 person max there was at least 40 people in it splashing around and trying to do handstands and flips while hitting people in the head. There is no lifeguard or staff in this area to regulate rules. When you ask the children to stop splashing you, they proceed to tell ADULTS to go to the adult hot tub if we don’t like it. Again, unsupervised and rude to the point we couldn’t enjoy it safely with our own children. The restrooms were so soaking wet that my kids were slipping around when barely walking. Lifeguards in all other areas were pretty attentive. They probably need several more lifeguards though with the amount of people they allow in the park. Overall, the kids had fun, but they would have fun in just a regular pool. We would probably stay elsewhere and pay for a day pass to a different waterpark if we...
Read moreSpring break mini vacation with the kids. 1st off. I'm not a seasoned traveler. The website didn't explain everything very clearly & I was nervous booking on my own. I thought I was booking a hotel close to the waterpark area. I didn't understand that "resorts" meant they have more than one building/facility. I guess I had not booked a room close at all (building 25) & I was upset bc it would be a five minute DRIVE to access the amenities. The staff was kind enough to allow me a Paid upgrade to building 1. They were very kind & gave me a small discount in order to make the upgrade cost less taxing on my budget. There is no concierge at the hotel facility. My room phone wasn't plugged in (so we found out), but I thought it was broken so I wasn't able to call housekeeping for more towels & wash cloths. They did not even have a foot towel to step out onto. They only gave us 1 towel & 1 washcloth. No hand towels even. There is only the indoor theme/water parks included in the stay. No breakfasts or other perks (this I did understand from the website). However, we did NOT have an ice machine on our wing. So bring a cooler filled with ice of your own or when you're exploring make sure to bring the cooler along. We saw a lot of people with coolers. And there are some towels at the waterpark but it is best to bring your own as well. The elevator was broken the first full day & a 1/2 of our stay & the amount of steps we walked was UNGODLY! It was difficult lugging our luggage upstairs. With no cart either. There were no luggage carts to be found. No concierge either to report it to. Very poor service on the hotel side. The kids DID enjoy the indoor waterpark for a full day. The indoor theme park is good for little kids. But otherwise just an extension of the arcade where you have to pay for everything. At the waterpark, tables go fast so get there first thing, put your stuff down & reserve your spot. Otherwise you won't have anywhere to sit. Small Lockers are $15. Big ones are $45. Upgrades: email ad said early check in/out Starting at $19.99. I clicked on it but the price was actually closer to $40 for each. The reserved seating said Starting at $50. Click on it, the cost for a reserved cabana was $295 "discounted" down to $265. Very misleading. The room was pretty cool. The Queen bed was not great, but not bad for a hotel bed. The kids LOVED the bunk bed. It was clean enough, kinda funky smell but nothing...
