I am rating this resort as average, which is not wholly a negative. Really in my experience most theme parks tend to be condensed nightmares of scorching heat and sweaty, stinky crowds. Mt. Olympus had the sun going for it, and the dense crowds of people, but it was overall enjoyable affair. I give it an average because it exceeded my expectations of these kinds of vacation getaways, but was still a crowded, expensive, and at times irritating ordeal. Again, this was to be expected, and overall I did enjoy myself, and were I ten years younger would definitely given the park a 5 out of 5, but as a crotchety old man there are the adult irritations that gnawed at my excitement level.
Parking was difficult as I fully anticipated, but did not ruffle my demeanor at all. I paid for a pricey package so day at the park was already paid for; very much a time saver and headache reducer. With my wrist band it was a simple affair getting into the park. Now, immediately upon entering I did get a chance to hop into line for a roller coaster. It was a manageable line, and devoid of screaming small children and obnoxious teens, a statement I could not make about a theme park rival with a series of flags in their name. However, the ride was very, very quick, a minute at best, and while it was well made, was hard to justify even a marginally shorter wait time.
Now the water park was a thoroughly enjoyable part of the entire visit. Easily my favorite part was the wave generator, "Poseidon's Rage". So simple a concept, just swim to deep end of a pool (roughly 5'8") and wait for a 9' wave to wipe out everyone, pushing everyone back a dozen yards. Lots of fun, and best part was there was no significant waiting whatsoever, the same can't be said for the other water rides. All of which look like fun, but I couldn't say because I never got to go down most of them. Wait times stated 2 hours and I simply did not have that kind of time.
Now all the griping isn't the park's fault, and really shouldn't be held against them. After all, it is a popular destination and safety is important. On that note it is worth more going on the various roller coasters on dry land than baking in the sun without a shirt at the water park. Now, when I wasn't waiting in line for the various rides I did get to enjoy a variety of snack stands and small restaurants, and like you would expect everything was significantly more expensive than it probably should be. It is the cost of convenience eating $6 onion rings rather than wasting an hour going to the car for a McDonald's hamburger. That being said, I thought the food could have been a little better. Never had an issue with service, everyone was exceptionally polite (especially in 90 degree weather), but to have to pay $40 for basically 3 appetizers and 2 beers and have your pizza slice be an inferior version of a microwavable brand from the gas station, that is just salt on an open wound.
Now, I have been harsh for sure, but I would like to state once more that I did have fun. It was just the kind of costly fun any rational adult comes to expect from any destination theme park. It will cost you a great deal for some sun burn and a few fun thrills in a go-cart, but what you are really paying for is the kids in your group enjoying the colors and music and wonderful smells. I am willing to forgive the adult gripes and overpriced beer knowing that the little ones in my family had a memorable experience. The rides are colorful and fun, and they even have a petting zoo that was not really crowded when we visited. As a responsible adult to the other adults reading this I will definitely recommend that if you are vacationing to the Dells, Mt. Olympus is a fine resort and worth a visit, but maximize your value and get the hotel package. Your going to pay a chunk, but rooms are passable and clean with regularly service, plus parking will become so much easier. After all the kids will really love it, and if you are a swimmer, find Poseidon's Rage and hang out there for while....
Read moreMt. Olympus Water & Theme Park is a fantastic destination for families that have kids of all ages. They have a mix of exciting rides for the thrill seekers, more relaxing rides, kiddy rides, and wave pool. My family visited this summer and had an amazing time exploring the park outdoors and indoors.
The outdoor waterpark slides were thrilling, and the wave pool was a big hit with the family we spent most of our time there. There were some new smaller slides for kids 1-5 in one section. Another section I would say 6-12 for slides and water bucket that drops. The indoor waterpark was more relaxing but Medusa was a first of its kind a rotating water slide a must do!! The indoor park is a great backup in case of rain, and the lazy river was perfect for unwinding. Can be crowded not the biggest indoor park.
The park is very spread out with some hills specially around the roller coasters to the entrance on the north side of the park. So be prepared to do a lot of walking if you tend to go on everything that Mount Olympus has to offer. The 4 roller coasters that Mount Olympus has are all wood roller coaster are very bumpy and will throw you around. More for the younger generation. I rode hades which was neat to go from the top to under the parking lot into a cork screw but my brain and back paid for it the days after the park. They need to add lights under the parking lot and just replace the tracks to make it smoother. The go-karts in the theme park section were fun with the 3 different tracks to pick from. Depending on the time of day you could wait from 30-60mins to get on.
The food was priced like a theme park and the food lines weren't terrible the days we went. Simple foods easy to make foods. Pizza, burgers, fries, Greek food, drink stations, ice cream and candy!! Also have some stores to shop in for Mount Olympus gear or things you may have forgotten to bring to the waterpark.
We also appreciated the free admission included with our hotel stay—it made everything feel more convenient and budget-friendly. The hotel rooms could use some updates, but overall, they were clean and comfortable. Plain and simple nothing fancy. We were lucky to get a room within walking distance of the park. Some hotels onsite you may not be so lucky. We went back to our room for lunch and snack breaks great benefit to have.

Read moreAwesome place, lots of fun & great for kids. It’s pricey but a one stop shop. I will mention, bc upon check-in, they don’t that you are offered zero room service, not even a daily cleaning? I asked for toilet paper when I was there & was told I had to call the front desk to request it? I paid a pretty penny for a 4 day stay & it seemed ridiculous that I could t get more then 2 rolls if TP for 4 girls & 1 guy? I get the cleaning service is most likely held accountable for their inventory & don’t blame them, however when you pay what you do for accommodations, a simple sheet & towel change w/ a bathroom touch-up would be nice? It’s been under construction for yrs now & it’s great but basic necessities are needed & it’s not recognized? No place around there even stays open past 9 to get food? Simple solution to growing demands but it’s about $350/night for the smallest room there (you want the on sight location to avoid a drive of about 5 miles) but it’s insane? To ask for TP that’s .50 cost paying what we do & be told no? Call the front desk? Again not sure how it’s monitored but that’s crazy to me. The staff was always polite except the staff in the shops. They refused to return a pair of flip flops I had less then an hr that fell apart & I only stood in line at Hades. I showed them w/ a receipt 40 mins later & was told they never saw that before. I got sent to 3 locations & the ma Agee said it was tape? She told me it was “just a matter of fashion?” I told her I didn’t care & if it has t happened b4 could I please get another pair bc I had the receipt from literally 45 mins ago & she refused to exchange them? I paid over 3K to go there for 4 days? They closed the rides down at 8:30 w/ nobody in line & it should have closed at 9? There are definitely issues that should be addressed there but w/ the proper staff & business ethics it...
