I will state my bias up front. Our family loves magicians out there. I have also paid a lot to see them. I will go into detail but let me just say that Rick and Susan Wilcox are awesome and the show blew our minds. The two of them together is what really makes the show. It's a combination of classic magic with a spin and very cool illusions. I have seen magicians who do one or the other well but this was a great mix of tricks. Up close coin and card tricks, masterful illusions, comedy for the whole family and audience participation (and I did get called up on stage). We cannot recommend this show enough! The theater is perfect. There are no bad seats but we paid for the $50 seats and sat middle of the fourth row. When we come back again I wouldn't want to sit anywhere else. Great up close view. We do budget for vacations and this was well worth it to us. I think next time I would call the box office to reserve seats. Online is first come, first served with the best seats assigned first for that date. You do have assigned seats. It's not a free for all when you get there. Parking is also plentiful. We happened to get lucky with our seats because we ordered them far enough in advance. The theater is charming, with very cool posters of the magic masters. Concessions are similar to a movie theater. You could even get three things for $10 (popcorn, drink, candy). Bathrooms are clean and convenient. All the staff members were very friendly from the box office to the gentleman working behind the magic shop. I did get called up on stage for the guillotine trick! I had wished to be called up and Rick looks into the audience and I assume picks people who are having fun. Either that or he just wanted to chop my head off. My head is back on and I'm no smarter. We had a blast and I certainly did. The show started at 7. There was an hour of magic, an intermission of about 20-30 min and then another 30 min of show. After the show Rick and Susan came out to the lobby to meet their guests, sign autographs and just talk. They are genuinely a fun, kind hearted couple who clearly love magic and entertaining people. It is obvious they have worked very hard to create this show and keep it running. Rick and Susan loved all the positive feedback from the audience and they were just so gracious and friendly. You can talk to them, get your picture or autograph for free. There are cool things to buy in the magic shop. We bought a large poster for only $5 for them to sign. My son wants it framed in his room. I want it in my room but my wife says no :) The kids also got wands for $5. They also gave me a nice picture of me losing my head and signed it. The kids are still talking about the show weeks later. Spectacular performance by two all around awesome...
Read moreI almost didn't go to this because of the price, but it is WORTH EVERY CENT. I keep thinking about it even days later, it was the highlight of my trip and I feel like I have been slightly altered after seeing it (in a good way). I was in the front row (the sooner you book, the better the seats & I booked my tickets maybe a month or two in advance but you don't find out where you sit until you arrive). They have good concession options, I got popcorn, Reese's pieces, cotton candy (prepackaged store bought type) and a water. They also have lemonade, sour patch kids, and other candy that I can't remember. The popcorn was SO GOOD and really added something extra to the experience. The show was just incredible. Every trick was good. The ending was a magical rush of joy with all the little floating.... well I don't want to spoil it for you but it is a visual treat and made me scream with delight. You cant take any pictures or videos though or have your phone out at all once it starts, so you will just have your memories to reminisce with. I dressed up fancy for the occasion but you don't have to. I did however get selected to come up on stage. You also have to be enthusiastic and engaged in order to be selected (so no family or friends trying to get someone else to go -that doesn't want to go- that will not work here). I did also notice that everyone who went on stage got a free gift. They did a Q&A at the end but don't ask them how a certain magic trick works please, he did say that specifically. Maybe think of a question that isn't common. Gosh I wish I could go back, I want...
Read moreI usually don't do this. Writing reviews is something I leave for others even when I like something. I had read a few reviews about Rick Wilcox theater and saw something that just didn't seem right especially with all the nice things people had to say about the show. A few reviews seemed out of place , almost like someone being bugged because they didn't get what they wanted. So I had to see for myself and took time to visit the Dells and see the Magic of Rick and Susan Wilcox. I have to say that I was captured by the show that they put out. I have not had this much fun in a long time. From the wonderful staff that greeted me as I stepped through the doors to the wonderful smell of fresh popcorn popping in the kettle. I made my way to the doors to enter and to my surprise, the magic had already started. The usher was pleasant and greeted you with a smile. Had me open the doors to only find that they "Got me." I found my way to my seat and when the curtain opened I was amazed with how Rick appeared on stage by stepping out of a race car that wasn't their moments before. I must say the entire evening was one illusion after another. Tricks that where amazing and the way the audience reacted. They spent time with individuals that they invited upon the stage and at times felt part of the show. I could talk for hours, but you must experience the show for yourself. After the show, Rick and Susan appeared in the Fireplace and spent time talking, signing autographs and pictures. Last but not least. The audience seem amazed and on their feet by the end of the...
