Spanning 600 acres, Wilderness Resort is America's Largest Waterpark Resort. During winter, you can enjoy three different water parks, one of which features an indoor wave pool. My wife and I have been taking our kids and now grandkids to the Wilderness for 25+ years. We have done more of the mid-winter visits then summer. We enjoy the nice break from the cold and snow. We've stayed in the Wilderness rooms, but it's been 15+ years. Recently we've been staying in the Glacier Canyon Lodge in the 3 Bedroom Deluxe rooms. The rooms are always clean and well appointed. Having our full family in one condo with a full kitchen has been great. Beds are comfortable, temp control for the room is good. Bathrooms are nice. Multiple TVs with 100+ cable channels. Love the rooms. Plenty of parking close to the Glacier Canyon rooms. Plenty of carts. The only issue is elevator access during the move-in peaks. You can access all the indoor pools and attractions walking the halls inside. You will get your steps in from Glacier Canyon. From the rooms we stayed in, the walk to the farthest pools was about a 10 to 15 minutes. The three indoor pools at the main complex are all great. Below I am only focusing on the indoor pools. All three are well heated and comfortable mid winter, though some of the halls can be a bit chilly. The Klondike Cavern is the oldest and smallest. It is also the one to avoid like the plague on Fridays and Saturdays. Too many people in too little space. If you don't mind elbow to elbow congestion, go for it. It is the only with a lazy river - which is nice when it is not elbow to elbow. It also has the most for toddlers. Sadly, it has the least sitting and hardest to move around. It's showing it's age with a dump bucket that hasn't worked for years. If Klondike was 2X it's current size, it would be amazing. The Water dome/wave pool area is awesome and best for all ages from toddlers to teens in my opinion, just fewer different activities for the older kids. Great for relaxing 'on a beach front like area' while the kids play and generally all in view. Wave pool is flippin awesome with 3' to 4' waves at the deepest end. There is a tube ride and a great toddler area. Glass top gives great natural lite during the day. The Wild West is a water tube slider heaven and awesome for kids 5 and up. There are at least 10 different slides / tube rides. I'm 60 and had no problem with them (I'm 6' 270 lbs - so not uber fit). If you have knee issues, getting out at the bottom of the tube rides might be a challenge - but not impossible. There is a small toddler area. If that area was double the size, it would be perfect. There are multiple arcades, rope / wall climbing, maze areas; though we focus on the pools. All look great. The large adult beverages will set you back $20 something. We save our hurricane glasses and refill at $18 a piece. My recommendation, buy one to have the hurricane glass and make your own in the room with a Bullet. Our 6 adults spent $340-ish on drinks over a 3 day stay. They are tasty though. Starbucks coffee is available at Multiple locations throughout the complex. There is a ton of Sweets and Chocolate options available as well. Food in the poolside restaurants isn't bad. Great for poolside tide-you-over food. There are true restaurants in the complex, we've not been as we eat in the room. The full kitchens in the room allow you to cook just about anything. There is a full blown Walmart about 3 miles away so no need to pack food unless you want to. Now for the advice... do early check-in and late check-out. It's worth it. Why would you stay a night with pools opening at 930 or 10 with an 11am vacate the room. Late checkout let's you get in 2 to 3 hours swim time before you check out. Same for early checkin. You can be in your room 2PM latest, as early as 1PM in many cases. You do have access to the park all day either way, but you have to change in the locker rooms if your not in your room. We did stop at Great Wolf on our way out of town to see what it was like. We have not stayed there. We did walk all their pools. Nice place, much smaller. Biggest advantage is all pools are connected.

We went to Glacier Canyon side of Wilderness for my nephew's birthday. We got 4 dirty rooms in a row and weren't in a fully clean room 4.5 hours after check-in. The first room had a dirty cup and was still dirty. There was stuff stuck on the carpet by the sink area. So, they moved us to a different room. We had to go all the way back to the front desk to get the new bracelets/ room keys. After I went up to go get the new room keys, I saw the front desk people give fun pass (arcade voucher) to another group. I asked how come I didn't get mine. I asked to talk to a supervisor, and some lady with big glasses got upset with me and told me it was in my packet. I told her they weren't, and she told me, "Well, you better check again." I asked to talk to her supervisor. Then Kevin, the real supervisor helped us. The lady wasn't even a supervisor, she just understood more English than the rest of them. We got our keys and our fun pass voucher. Right before that, though, Kevin kept saying that he needed a report from housekeeping before he got us into a new room. I asked him, "Aren't you the supervisor?" We got to our new room and there was hair all over the beds. It looked like pet hair and human hair. So, I called back down to the supervisor, Kevin. He said that he could get someone to come up and clean the room and change out the bedding. I told him that we would like a new room. He said that they could come over and clean, to which I told him again that we would like a new room. He said that they'll move us into a room right down the hall. He said that someone would bring us over our new bracelets and that the room had been inspected and cleaned. So, we waited in the hallway for a few minutes, 10 minutes go by. I asked my sister how long do you think it takes to get here from the front desk because we'd been waiting, just chilling in the hallway. During this time, the housekeeping staff went into the new room, the "clean and inspected" room, and they took cleaning supplies in after they went and "inspected" again. I called Kevin back and told him that we've been waiting in hallway and that there was nowhere to sit, and it was unacceptable to just be waiting in the hallway. I also told him that I would like to speak with his supervisor. So, I drove back up to the front desk and sat in their waiting area. He said after a bit that the room was indeed ready. I asked for a different room, in a different wing. He told me that the room was clean and was ready. I finally got in touch with a manager, Cassidy. She apologized for the entire ordeal after I gave a recap of our situation. She said they're there to provide an "experience" and that we shouldn't have had those issues. She was nice in the beginning, and she got us a new room in a new wing. We got there, and there was hair on the beds and hair surrounding the tub in the bathroom. I called Cassidy back and she told us that the room was indeed clean. Mind you, I put this whole ordeal on my snapchat story for everyone to see. I put all this on my snapchat story, and I had people add and respond to me. Some of them had worked at this location, and they don't change out their sheets. They cut corners to try to get more rooms cleaned, and they've told management about it. They did nothing. This was more than one person that wrote me this. By this time, Cassidy has had enough of me, I think, because I called her back and told her the situation with the room. She said that she could send some people over to clean the room. I told her that at this point, we'll take it because I was tired of the shuffling around and it was already 2.5 hours since we got there from check-in. So, we left the room and she said someone would come over and clean. We had to walk to give the new bracelets to my nephew and his friend. So we went to around and finally found him. We were gone almost an hour and got back to our room, it was still dirty. I called up Cassidy and told her the situation. She blamed the language barrier and the staff. I ran out of space for review, but 4.5 hr to get into a room.
