Located in downtown Lincoln City this theatre should be on everyone's list of things to do! A rainy cold day would be a great time to go but we went on a "lazy” day when we needed a break from driving up and down the 101 doing the "tourist” thing.
We found a large public parking lot right up the block, got our tickets 20 minutes early and did a bit of shopping while we waited for the movie to start. There are plenty of places to choose from only a short walk from the theatre. Restaurants for a bite to eat as well, we went up to Mo's for lunch and came back to Lincoln City for the movie.
The chairs aren't bad - standard for a theatre but be aware there are recliners you can reserve with enough notice and a fee - see their website for more info. We didn't try to reserve with enough notice so we didn't get them. This is a great idea, however! Chairs are located in the back two rows on the right side.
Sound system and screen quality were good. There is even a red velvet curtain that opens and closes!
We went to the 2pm show on a weekday in mid-September and in our early 40's, appeared to be the youngest in attendance. The theatre was it even close to being full so that was nice. We sat in the middle section almost in the back row and didn't have anyone to our sides.
Popcorn is hot and buttery, soda is cold, plenty of candy to choose from as well.
Cool little place, that's now made it to our list of things to do while we're on the coast! ld reccomend this for families, the young, the old, anyone, really! It's like stepping back in time, enjoy this while you still can! I'm sure there aren't many of them left...
Read moreLincoln City is a quaint small rural city and the Bijou Theater is a historic theater. If you are looking for a newer multi theater Newport has an eight screen theater and that's about 30 minutes away. I went to Bijou for the first time after living here for years. I really wanted to go before but could not due to my illness. I went to see a screening of Death Becomes Her after I was no longer immune compromised. Bijou is in a great location with cool shops and restaurants all around. The theater is just what I expected it to be and I was not disappointed at all. You really need to have an appreciation for historic structures. My popcorn was seasoned perfectly. It was warm, crunchy and delicious. The concession prices (to me) were fair so I had M&Ms and a bottle of apple juice. The concession staff member was very courteous to me. The seats were decent and comfortable. The old timey nostalgic music that was playing before the movie started was a very nice touch and I felt like I stepped back in time. Thank you Bijou for making my first time visiting very enjoyable. I am really looking forward to going again and highly recommend experiencing this theater...

Going there is a wonderful experience that takes me back to movie theatres I frequented as a child in the 50s and 60s on the East Coast.
The owners, Keith and Betsy, are very helpful and accomodating and believe in doing things for the good of their community. They have done extensive renovations and created a delightful and unique environment. They are true lovers of film amd it shows everywhere in their establishment.
We went today to see a special showing of White Christmas. It's a fave of mine but I never had the opportunity to see it on the big screen. It was a FABULOUS and very nostalgic experience.
The Bijou is a great place to take the family. The popcorn is great, the seats are comfortable and the ambiance is welcoming and cozy. Their bathrooms are extra clean and quirky so even they are fun.
If you're looking for a movie when visiting Lincoln City, Oregon, check out the Bijou Theatre. You will be making great memories there.
Thank you...
