My wife and I visited Myrtle Beach when some cold weather hit this week. We had planned in advance so there was no changing that. When thinking of things to do we figured we may as well go here. It looked fun enough. In a cheesy way.
This is what happened. We bought our tickets online in advance and showed up at 1:10pm. Ten minutes after open. We stood in line for twenty. The only two people.
After going up an elevator they tell you "No lights and do not touch anything." They usher you into a waiting room. It is once again told to you "No lights and do not touch anything." After going behind a "bookcase" this is where the experience pissed us off...
It is pitch black except for a a sign saying "THIS WAY." You can not see. You can not touch anything. How do you continue forward? After knocking on the wall and asking for some assistance or instructions we get yelled at by the staffer. "Use all your senses," she says. "Do not stop moving."
We were trying to be good customers and follow instructions. Your instructions were DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING.
My wife sighs and pulls out her phone so we can actually see. We are pissed.
The next thing we arrive at are some props hanging from the ceiling which you have to touch to walk through. Followed by another staff as part of the show telling us to turn off our phone. Followed by a guy following us through the whole place yelling for us to hurry.
We were extremely angry. The guy following us finally put us in a staff elevator and took us out of the "attraction."
My advice? If you are looking for the same experience we got pay someone thirty dollars to put you in a box blindfolded. Then tell you to get out of it. However you can't touch the box to get out. Have them scream at you whenever you touch the box.
That's the experience we got. It wasn't scary. It wasn't startling. It wasn't fun. I could have thrown $30 onto the Boardwalk and watched people chase it. That would have been more fun...
Read moreNow, just to let everyone know, the place is dark, cramped, and not very long. You can expect to be done within 7-10 minutes, maybe shorter or longer depending on how fast you move. As people have said, there are only 2-3 people as live actors. This is true, but you have to remember this: the place is small and cramped; there's not a lot of room for everyone in those dark corridors. But they do their job and do it pretty well. The main enemies, aside from the actors, are props that have the special collars on them. But, with that said, there is a supposed "boss" at the end of the shooting portion, which is unfortunately static and has no motors to make it move and be the imposing monster it's supposed to be. After the last shooting room, the guns are removed from everyone so they can go through the regular haunted area as the finale. As far as scares go, it does a good enough job, but with all the horror games I've played, I found myself quite calm and smiling from a fun time. It is also pretty easy to go through because you have a 30 round magazine and infinite reloads with 200 health. Even after taking damage, it seemed that I healed some how along the way.
Overall, a pretty fun experience, but beware of the cost and party size. If you don't scare easy, you might not get spooked, but you may find yourself like me; with a grin...
Read moreMe and my friend were so excited to go on this “haunted adventure”. We thought it would be a family friendly fun murder mystery type of experience, boy were we WRONG. This is ANYTHING but KID FRIENDLY. After standing in line for a half hour when we were the only two people there the tour guide then took us in and began explaining the rules for 10 whole minutes he even talked about how he would guide us the entire way and make sure to get the door for us, which later proved to be wrong. He also made snarky comments about how because we were on vacation by ourselves that we were only there because of “daddy’s money”. He took us through the first two doors then said we needed to split up and that we would have to “find our way” and that we would later meet up, this did not happen until 15 minutes later when me and my friend were hyperventilating in a dark room with no way out after screaming we wanted to be done multiple times the guys then yelled at us to keep going until my friend had to make threats to get us out, he then took a whole 7 minutes to come back and get us and said he would guide us out, AGAIN HE LEFT US IN A DARK ROOM AND WE JUST...
