This was the worst Myrtle Beach stay I have ever had. I am going to speak to room 0532 at the Patricia Grand and not the entire property. Upon arrival staff was friendly and the check in process took less than 3 minutes. Upon entering the room it smelled clean (clorox smell), however I did notice that there was residue from the ceiling on the pillow of the beds, i just wiped them off. Thought nothing about it other than that the ceiling did look bad as it was peeling and that was it. I also instantly noticed the appliances in the room was outdated. TV was an LCD with a DVD player (wow). Laps weren't in the best shape. Not to mention there were limited sockets and not one near the middle night stand. The room was just dated all the way around but again, seemed what I thought was clean. Fast forward, parked the car after unloading and went back to the room ceiling residue was back on the pillows, i thought to myself I know the ceiling is not falling apart. I looked up, nothing different other than the ceiling looked bad and if it was peeling but nothing was dropping at the moment. So I wiped them again. Fast forward throughout the day with my family. Came back to the room, the ceiling was on the pillows again, so I said let me report this. No telling what chemicals are in the ceiling particles and I don't want myself of my family to get sick and plus who wants to sleep with white particles falling on their head. Now at this time we are also trying to find the basketball game (Celtics vs Mav Game 4). TV channels were terrible and we couldn't find it. Picked up the phone to report the ceiling as well as ask what channel the game was on and to my surprise, the phone didn't work. Not that it didn't work, the cord didn't even fit in the phone. So sent my family downstairs to ask about the phone, TV, and ceiling. Maintenence came in about 20 minutes from that communication downstairs. The worker came in, looked at the phone and said oh the line is dead, it's not gonna work. What?!?! So what if something was wrong, how would we reach reception. To mention the ceiling again, the worker said I will let downstairs know (we already told downstairs smh), and as for the channel for the game we'll the channel lineup was wrong and when we found the channel for the game if buffered, didn't work, so we missed the game smh. Next day came around, now mind you I have reported the ceiling three times by second day (via text to Vacasa, downstairs to front desk work by my family member, and in the room when worker came to fix the phone. Now day two, I went downstairs and said hey what is going on with the request regarding the ceiling, the representative said the order has been placed and Maintenence will take care of it. Ok, well I was there three night, and Maintenence never came again. No urgency or care in their face or voice. Others issues noticed in room, remote stopped working other than for volume and lamp near sliding door had to be messed with to work. Im still waiting to hear from Vacasa and/or property management regarding some form of compensation since made various complaints at the facility and with guest customer services on the phone. Have tons of videos of the experience. Worse stay ever!
7/11/24 UPDATE TO RESORT REPLY: Thank you for your reply, however I have video footage of the room from my stay with timestamps. Trust me when I say there were particles from the ceiling constantly...
Read moreStaff was friendly and courteous except for one situation I will describe. Pool was clean. Access to beach is great. Plenty of pool chairs available. I booked my room through Vacasa so I stayed because I doubted I could be refunded and was too tired to find another place. Bedding and towels were clean. Using keypad to unlock door was difficult as it didnât work most of the time. Balcony door would not lock. In room safe was locked shut and could not be used. Photos attached. The room itself does not receive regular cleaning and maintenance. It was dusty, accumulating dirt, bathroom had grime and possibly black mold in sink and shower where buildup has been allowed, definitely old urine in toilet seat crevices. Shower head rusted. See pics. Handles to open drawers and baseboards were covered in dust and dirt. Furniture was visually dirty/damaged. One elevator was broken my entire visit so wait times for elevator were excessive. I wanted to spend time at the pool. Other guests brought out speakers on wheels with a handle for rolling them as large as a suitcase. They took over the pool areas more than one group playing different music, increasing volume excessively competing with each other. I complained at the front desk this was not a relaxing environment. The desk staff said nothing. Non responsive. I went to my room because it was obvious they didnât care. Other guests commented to me it had been going on their entire stay. Just a horrible experience.
Update, after my same review, photos and submission to Vacasa they have reached out today and are giving me some credit refund of $89 on my stay. This was unexpected to me. I appreciate their consideration and feel their response has been adequate. I do not fault Vacasa as the booking entity. I assume Patricia Grand is responsible for cleaning and maintenance. I definitely feel Patricia Grand is responsible for all guests comfort and safety in the pool environment and resort property. So my disappointment in my overall stay as well as the total cost and feeling slighted by what I paid for as represented versus the environment I experienced continues to be with the Patricia Grands responsibility. I did stay there two nights. While I never asked anyone for a refund I do feel that I did not get an appropriate vacation for what I have paid in total. People deserve clean sanitary rooms and functioning locks for the prices we pay. Would I have paid $371.99 for my 2 nights stay if I had known the room conditions and pool experience before I booked it? No, I would not. Has the Patricia Grand apologized for my experience, reached out to me at all, did they attempt to ensure my comfort and safety? No they did not. What is the health conditions, safety and comfort for you and your family worth to you? Mine is worth staying somewhere else in the future. With zero responsibility taken by Patricia Grand...
Read moreOverall very pretty views, but not a very pleasant place to stay from my experience over this weekend. First thing to note is any time you go to do anything involving the elevators youâre going to have a 30 min wait minimum, my wife and I stayed on the 17th floor and at one point decided it was the faster option to take the stairs than wait for the elevator that had already had us there for 30 minutes. The hotel as a whole seemed as if they donât do their cleaning properly, very dingy and dirty and overall gross. And if youâre going to ask house keeping for anything at all forget it, youâll be redirected to the front desk to get anything regardless of if they have a full linen cart beside them and mind you the elevator situation was already a whole mess. The balcony view was really nice however we werenât able to enjoy time out there because although this was a âsmoke freeâ facility people continued to chain smoke on the balcony having the entire area smelling of cigarette smoke (not a huge issue however it is very inconvenient to have to deal with when youâre just trying to relax and enjoy your vacation) The floors in the room had a sticky nasty feeling to them as if they havenât been mopped and the room itself had sort of a musty smell to it so we tried to spend most of our time avoiding the room because the hotel was so filthy we didnât want to be there. It was very few and far between to see the staff around and when you did they looked as if they were inconvenienced to be there doing their job. We got a room with a king sized bed and the bed was creeky and very uncomfortable to sleep on leaving me waking up extremely sore with what sleep I did get. Overall the rooms could use a good deep clean and remodel with upgrades for sure. And donât listen to anything on the listing because itâs all very misleading and what we saw online was nothing compared to the actual hotel leaving us very disappointed. Not to mention the walls are paper thin and you could hear fireworks all evening as if you were setting them off with the people and anytime your neighbor makes a peep youâll hear it loud and clear. Some positives about the place are the pool area is absolutely gorgeous, with both an indoor and outdoor pool, a lazy River, very good beach views and access to the beach from the pool area, a DJ in the pool area playing music with a pool bar also available, and several hot tubs (indoor and outdoor). Overall I would definitely save yourself the trouble and avoid this place, itâs not nearly worth the amount you pay for it and I feel as if you could definitely find somewhere a lot nicer with the amount you pay for this room and with the amount of issues youâll encounter. Overall I hope this review helps anyone considering this place because had I known this I definitely would have continued to...
