I haven’t visited Myrtle Beach for leisure purposes in years! My life-partner, Chris had never been so we decided this is where we would celebrate his Lifeaversary! On the final evening of our trip, we decided on Italian for dinner. We did a google search for top Italian Restaurants in the area and Toscana Kitchen and Bar came up as the top restaurant of choice.
Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked into this street corner establishment, we felt welcomed. This is super important to us, especially given today’s political climate, where some establishments are selective regarding their patronage. We were hailed with a very warm and cordial greeting which set the tone for an absolutely pleasurable dining experience. ✅ We were escorted to a table but requested a slightly more spacious seating area away from the congestion. Without hesitation, we were escorted to our preferred seating area. Another check✅! Our server was a kind-hearted Russian female who immediately informed us that she had just started working there. We reassured her that we were delighted to have her and were looking forward to the experience. Some delicious bread with garlic butter was brought out for the table to share. FaMazing! (That’s slang for Freaking amazing)! For appetizers, we ordered the mozzarella in carozza and calamari which came with a home made dipping sauce! OMGness! These were absolutely delectable!! “Mama”, the owner of the establishment, came out as these were served and extended the most heartwarming greeting! ✅✅✅! This gesture alone won me over, personally.
For our main course, we ordered Lasagna, Salmon pasta, and Shrimp Risotto. All I can say is, Mama better not ever let me get my hands on her recipes. Absolutely scrumptious. I could go on and on, but let it suffice to say that, by far this was one of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time and my partner and I enjoy fine cuisine quite often. If you are ever staying in North Myrtle Beach, this restaurant is a MUST TRY! Thank you, “Mama” and staff! We will be sure to see you again on our next visit! 10 out of 5 stars! That’s...
Read moreWe decided to stop here after looking at several different options with long waits. We were seated quickly and then everything fell apart. We waiting about 10 mins to get our drink orders (they needed to find our waiter), then another 15 mins to get our drinks. Meanwhile, multiple tables around us were sat, served bread, and even had appetizers on their table before we got water. When we asked about bread, our waiter Chris said it would be about 3-5 mins and took our orders. After another 15 minutes, we got our bread and salads that came with our entrees. When I asked about the dressing for the salads, the waiter had forgotten to mention the dressing options (I assumed since it was an Italian restaurant it came with a house dressing). We waited another waitress run circles around Chris and when asked about why our table was so far behind, Chris blamed the kitchen. I pointed out that the other tables were not having any issues and so blaming the kitchen made no sense. Let me say that by the time we got our food, my wife and kids food was great. I ordered a dish containing filet minion (medium rare) and it came out well done. I sent it back and the next steak I got was raw and cold to the touch in the middle of the steak. I finally asked to speak to the manager and a lady who I believe to be the owner came to our table and apologized and offered a dessert. A freaking dessert.. then she said the steak would be removed. She even went as far to say that some people like the steak that way. I very seldom leave reviews but this place absolutely takes the cake as the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant establishment. I told the owner that I would not tell her how to run her business and I paid for our food and left as we had young kids that were exhausted from the day and needed to get to bed. I understand it is hard to find good help these days, but the managers lack of ability to handle the situation is not a result of this. It is just poor customer service. If you eat here, make sure to have plenty of time and do not order a steak dish as they have no idea...
Read moreYou will drive past many Italian restaurants on the way to Toscana but do NOT stop! THIS is the place you want to be!!! We are from an Italian neighborhood in KC & my husband is 1st gen Italian. This was one of the BEST Italian meals we have EVER had! The bread w/seasoned oil was PERFECT (warning: save some bread for your pasta sauce!) The calamari is probably the best you will ever have unless you go to the Italian coast! The minestone was rustic like it was lovingly made on a hearth fire w chunks of veggies and unique flavor profile. My salad was fresh baby greens with a delicate vinagrette (on the side!) We had a hard time deciding on our entre's but went with the lobster ravioli and chicken gnocci. WOW! Let me just say it again WOW! Perfect pasta, perfect gnocci, UNBELIEVEABLE sauces! WOW! We HAD to have dessert too! We had tiramisu and cannoli. My husband is VERY picky about cannoli. Says most arent 'real' cannoli. He said 'like..like.. if you understand cannoli... this was exactly like the cannoli in Italy from my childhood.' The tìramisu? Not your typical cube of coffee soaked bread... this was hand made in a lovely coffee mug and tasted heavenly! There really is a Vinny the chef in the kitchen ACTUALLY cooking and his momma really is there with him. (She brought out our lemoncello!) Im told he only allows family to cook in the kitchen and our server, Albina is going to school in Rome and is here on a work- study. Her & my husband had a long conversation in Italian - lol! PLEASE! You have to try this amazing, authentic Italian restaurant! We are coming back tomorrow night and EVERY time we visit MB - we will be here!...
