We would not recommend this hotel. For starters, nothing in this hotel is clearly marked and nobody can seem to give clear directions other than all of the stickers on the floor and elevators telling you where to stand. We showed up to the parking garage on the side of the hotel that isn’t on a blocked street. Directions tell you to swipe your hotel key (which you don’t have because you haven’t checked in yet). Ok, no big deal. So we drive around to the front lobby and park in the designated “hotel check in” sign in front of the lobby door. (The only actual signage on the premise and it’s 100% misleading) The door is locked. You need a room key to get in. The front desk attendants can clearly see this and do nothing. So we call 3 times and they proceed to tell us that we cannot enter without a room key. You know, the one we don’t have because we can’t get into the lobby to check in yet.
We contemplated finding a different hotel but quickly realized that in this city we were likely to run into more of this total insanity. So we finally figure out which parking garage to go into (again, no clear signage to direct guests) go in to check in. My husband is told he must wear a mask (even though there’s a party of 4 adults sitting at a table 10 feet away, all without masks. And the woman who had just left the counter was without a mask. There is also plexiglass between the attendant and the guest by the way.)
If we’re going to be forced to wear a mask, at least don’t discriminate who you decide to enforce it upon. I walked down to the lobby multiple times and was never told to wear a mask (unless I was with my husband) but every time my husband did, they were very rudely on top of him about it. On top of that, the attendant found it necessary to give her politicized opinion about masks and the “pandemic”.
You have to use a special key to get into the freezing cold pool. Ok, fine. But if you need to use the restroom, be prepared to grab your room key and the pool key to go all the way back up to your room because the hallway restroom requires a room key but then doesn’t work.
When my husband ran out to grab our carry out for dinner, he somehow misplaced his room key. So thank goodness he had me to call, so I could leave our 3 children unattended in the hotel room to come down to the front door because the lobby attendant will not let a guest in while they stand outside in the freezing temps (yes, we visited during a winter storm and it was below freezing) with full hands. When I got down there, my husband and I were the only two in the lobby other than the attendant and she proceeded to yell at us, as we jogged by to get back to our kids, to wear masks. Maybe they should install moving walkways so we can sit at tables and still get down the hallway and not be yelled at to wear masks when we’re more than 15 feet away from the only person in the lobby for about one second.
I will say that the rooms are very nice and roomy. Which we always appreciate with 3 kids. Wish the fridge had a freezer though. And no microwaves. And wish we didn’t have to turn the tv off and on again every time we want to see the channel guide and have it slowly go through each channel with no way of being able to control it. But it could’ve been worse and we dealt with it no problem. Just an annoyance.
The fitness room was also pretty nice with multiple machines and free weights. Breakfast is grab n go and we were pleasantly surprised at how good the breakfast was despite the covid...
Read moreI have never been so angry at a hotel in my life, and I regularly travel on business. I do not recommend staying here for any reason. Run as fast as you can!
First, I arrived and there was dirt and debris in the drawer I had to clean up. The next day, the cleaning staff said they would service my room. They came and vacuumed the floor, but they also took all of our towels, and then didnt leave us any towels for the next day, did not take the trash, did not make the bed, did not replenish the coffee, etc. I then asked the front desk at around 4:30 pm if someone could come clean it. They said they had no staff. They all left for the day. Then I asked for someone to come at 8 am before my virtual work meetings started. This also was impossible. Apparently they work only 9-4 pm, or she was just being difficult. She argued with me for 5 minutes and was very condescending and rude. Then I talked to the manager, who was able to get staff to come clean it almost immediately (proving the front desk attendant was lying on some power trip).
Finally, today, I found a dirty green cleaning rag in my room on top of my luggage. I then ordered Uber eats before taking a shower. This is always brought up to my room at other hotels. They refused to let my delivery person up despite me calling and also could not bring the food up themselves. I would have not ordered food from Uber eats had I known I would need to go downstairs after showering, doing my skincare regimen, and in pajamas. I would have instead went out to eat before I showered.
If the staff is there only certain hours, and if they do not let delivery people up to the rooms, these are atypical rules that needs to be communicated up front to guests upon arrival. Many hotels provide a printed list of these types of rules. I do not see why they overlook communication and then have a horrible attitude when you do ask for proper service.
I have stayed at Hyatt Places, Hyatt Regencies, Marriott hotels, and other top brands all over the US and Europe for work. I have never gotten such poor service.
I also completely wasted my $45 food order and now I get to go to bed hungry due to their horrible attitude.
Please do not stay...
Read moreThis Hyatt Place is dog friendly, but bear in mind that downtown Nashville is not the most dog friendly. There is an active issuer with homelessness in downtown Nashville, and so maybe in an effort to curb it, whether consciously or unconsciously, there seems to be a civic aversion to grassy areas which the public and dogs in need of relief can easily access. So we are staying on the 9th floor of this Hyatt Place, and are loving our view of the river and bridge, of downtown buildings, but when we take our dog out the many times a day we do so, we have to circle and circle the block to coax her to lower her standards and go on a sad little patch of mulch. I picked this spot because there is a downtown dog park right near it. We tried to access it yesterday and either couldn’t figure out where exactly it is, or it is blocked off for the moment by barricades etc which also seem to be to try and keep the myriad of homeless men from further occupying the grassy areas. Anyway, besides all of that: this Hyatt is clean, well run. Our room is spacious, with a sectional, fridge, good bathroom, decent work area, loads of plugs, powerful AC, a wonderful view… It is totally corporate cookie cutter style, but works fine for the price. You can valet park for something like just over $50/day or self park in the same garage for I think $43. The key cards are not being properly read by the parking entry machine. So if you opt to self park and the card will not let you in, don’t panic: either push for assistance and a valet will come running to let you into the garage, or take a ticket and don’t pay it later, just push the assistance button when you need to leave and show the valet your card so that person lets you out. The garage does seem very safe and the same elevator takes you to all the garage floors as well as all the hotel floors. Breakfast is included with good coffee and okay food options. I think if the weather was not in the upper 90s, I would feel better about our choice to stay downtown with our dog because we’d be out walking all over. This is just a little rough patch of extreme heat which makes walking around downtown a little...
