When I was having a look at this place, coming from Zillow, I thought it was too good to be true. In addition, the online presence of the managing company (River 2 River) and of the condo itself raised some eyebrows - I was quite shocked with the many reviews from fake accounts (most of the reviews were made by accounts with only one or two reviews). Despite the awkward online presence, we moved in to the Atelier. The process was really straightforward. The building is approx. 20 years old, so there are some touches here and there that could improve our stay. For example, there was no welcome pack or welcome email when we moved in (which I think is necessary for a building like the Atelier, to explain about amenities, heating, etc.); the building staff is a bit unhelpful or vague (our heating unit is noisy sometimes, we asked someone to check this out months ago, and no one ever solved this); there's no online system to help residents communicate with each other (even though they have Building Link available); some of the furniture that came with my apartment is wobbly (microwave, dishwasher - they don't look very stable on their spots); also, some of the furniture looks cheap. But all in all, honestly, living here is pretty awesome, considering my previous experience renting in NYC. Here, there's an AMAZING rooftop with 360 views of Manhattan and a pool table (UPDATE: all sticks are broken lol), there's a tennis court, it's close to several bars, restaurants and from the west waterfront, my apartment is super silent and the heating unit is able to make the unit warm (despite the fact that it's always either too hot or too cold). I kind of love it! For the price, I think it's a great deal (this is me saying this during the Covid-19 pandemic, when prices fell a lot. I am not sure I would be so happy to pay their full price for the quality I am seeing in my flat, which they often refers as "luxurious", whereas it DOES NOT compare to the quality of the units in buildings like Sky, just opposite). I just wanted to share my experience here because I felt quite uncomfortable when I was about to move in, reading other people's comments online, and I would have liked to have a more comprehensive description of the building. I recommend you get a home at the Atelier, but do your...
Read moreWe had a group tour of the building with Alexia, she was incredibly courteous and personable throughout the tour while also being very knowledable about the building, and able to answer any pertininent questions we had about The Atelier including pricing, nearby transportation, included amenities, and additional services offered. The tour started in the Lobby as it is beautifully decorated and spacious, a sign of what is to be expected throughout the building from the public lounge/rooftop areas to the available units to rent. The public area included luxurious furnishing, wide open space to relax, and a section to play pool which was greatly appreciated by the many tenants enjoying a game. The outdoor area was large with a memorable view of the river with walkways around the building for the opposite side view. All of these areas and the included amenities such as the gym looked exactly as they were pictured on the listing on Zillow, which was pretty convenient for us. The room that we were shown, much like the lobby, featured great finishes, tall ceilings, and very spacious rooms. The kitchen felt very roomy with an island that separated the kitchen and a very open living space, and had modern stainless steel appliances like a fridge, microwave, and oven. The entire kitchen and living areas (and bedrooms for that matter) are bathed in natural light with the dazzling floor-to-ceiling windows that wrap around the corner of the building with a view of the river and surrounding urban area. The bedrooms are unexpectedly more spacious than what it appeared with tall ceilings and beautiful windows that exhude a feeling of peace, comfort, and relaxation. The bathroom fixtures and finish felt clean and hygienic with plenty of room for any & all daily uses. Definitely a great choice for anyone looking for a place to live in the heart of the city. And although we weren't able to become part of The Atelier community due to unforseen personal circumstances at the moment, we would one day hope to return to such a wonderful building in the future as a potential tenant after such a great...
Read moreI've lived in this building since 2008 and each year it gets better and better. When I first moved in it was one of two buildings on the block so there wasn't much around in the way of gyms, restaurants and groceries. Now it's steps from the swankiest gym in town (who doesn't want to work out next to one of the Knicks?), Gotham Market and countless awesome spots to grab groceries or bring a date.
Being so close the Hudson Pier is awesome. You can ride your bike (or CityBike) all along the gorgeous dedicated bike path stretching all the way down to Battery Park. Being able to enjoy nature while in the city is awesome and this is one of the few locations in the city besides Central Park that truly lets you experience this.
Getting anywhere in the city via Lyft is super easy as this location is far less crowded traffic-wise than most. Also, it's right across from the ferry station to New Jersey. Sometimes I would take a ferry just to enjoy the food trucks over there and the boat ride home!
I had a car for two years and pretty much never used it because between the bike path, the ferry, walking distance to the ACE train and super easy cabs/ubers a car was just unnecessary.
The building is on point and always has gorgeous fresh flowers in the lobby, free coffee and bagels in the morning and a free shuttle across town for commuters in the morning.
The amenities are wonderful. There's the jaw-dropping sky lounge with pool table and sweeping city views. There's the outdoor tennis court with surprisingly few users. There's the kids playground and outdoor barbeque area. There's the free gym, movie viewing room. The doormen are hands down the best. I even voted for two of them (Paul & Mark) for best doorman in the city.
Oh and a washer and dryer IN the apartment. Will never go without that again. How do y'all ever get your laundry done?
One of the few remaining values in all of Manhattan where you can find a 1br under $1M with these type...
