I like this market a lot. To me this is the best Westside Market NYC and is, specifically, significantly better than the one on 110th. —Which is ironic because the Westside Market NYC on 110th is the original location of the chain, established right here on the UWS in 1977. The same family still runs the business today. They have 7 locations across Manhattan now. I think this might be the best one. The prices are slightly lower at this one than the one on 110th or the ones downtown. And this one doesn’t carry exactly the same products, some are unique to this location. Many products are overpriced but many others offer unexpectedly good value for cost. Keep a keen eye and you’ll see what I mean. As with all Westside Market NYC stores, the breadth and variety of prepared deli foods on offer is impressive. There’s also a hot food counter, cold food counter, self-serve hot beverages counter, large baked goods section and fresh produce section. It’s a great store. This Westside Market NYC (on 98th) and Fairway Market are what I would consider to be the best markets on the UWS. On top of all of the above, it’s also open 24 hours 🎉. *There’s also the Key Foods on 96th & Barzini’s open 24/7 in the area. I think Westside Market NYC is better than both.

NEW Photos & Videos in Update: Exceptional Quality and Large Variety of Products, including gourmet cheese, fresh fruits, every type and size of milk, hot and dry cereal, ice cream, coffee (instant, beans and freshly ground) and cakes and pies, by the slice or whole, spices, beer, and salads, plus a long counter with freshly cooked, ready to eat foods, like salmon burgers. Last night I had ribs and vegetables and the best sweet potatoes I've ever tasted. Lets see...other worthwhile info: They are open 24 hours. The employees are all friendly and knowledgeable. The store is on Broadway btwn 98 & 97, MTA 104 bus stop right there, and the 1/2/3 train stops a block away at the 96th street station. Busiest time is mid to late afternoons, but no matter how many people are shopping, they instantly have 10 or 12 registers open, so there's never long slow waits to check out. They are a little bit on the pricey side, but like I said, quality stuff, and you get what you pay for. EBT cards are honored with no drama or judgements (except for hot, fully cooked meals). The clientele/customers are every type of cool New Yorker and there's always nice music playing, so the atmosphere is chill, just like the temperature. 👍🏻 5-stars & thumbs-up. ✌🏼

If you don't mind paying higher prices for food, then the Westside Market is fine. Certain produce items are definitely overpriced, whether "organic" or not; an example of this were five medium-sized Meyer Lemons at just over $10 ($7.99 per pound), or a outrageous $2 for one lemon. More recently I returned to check the price for the Meyer Lemons and I immediately noted that the price had dropped to $4.99 per pound for a package of five lemons, however the size was now small rather than medium as before. I suppose $1 a lemon is to be considered a bargain at the Westside Market. This store does have a large selection of imported and domestic cheeses and a daily selection of delicious freshly-prepared hot and cold soups, salads, vegetable, pasta and meat dishes. Its breads and rolls are also freshly baked daily. There are many cashiers so even during busy periods the line moves quickly. This Westside Market is a very clean food store with tremendous variety of fresh and prepared foods, but be prepared for price shock.

The amount of times I have opened something to discover mold is too many. I've had it. The veggies go bad quick. Prepared food I've bought & brought home to discover mold (sandwiches/ pasta) . Last week I bought cheddar and the next day when I took the plastic off it was moldy and smelled of sour milk. Immediate trash and waste of money. Even pickles I've bought have turned bad in a week. Pickles!? It's open 24hrs and the lines move fast. Those are the pros. 50% of items have actual price tags on it & it's often marked up multiple times (photo is from a can bought in Feb22) Well before inflation. It's known among neighbors they are overpriced and to be avoided if you can.

The last two times I've picked up their prepared Traditional Chicken Noodles Soup it has tasted like they added pickle juice or pickle spices to it. I don't know what the problem is... Maybe it's the plastic containers their using. It's weird tasting. Also, ingredients list Fresh Tomato Sauce and not chicken stock which is strange because it's not a red soup, it's yellow with yellow white chicken fat caked on the inside lid, no fresh tomato pieces or color. No potato, no sweet green peas either as listed. It's not good.

This place is fully stocked and looks eye filling but is UNACCEPTABLE expensive. For a chocolate bar charging almost 8$ ? Price gouging or what the heck. For the same bar I pay 4$ at Target. It's just crazy to think that someone would do a weekly grocery list at this market with these prices, I would say people that actually do are silly, while there are plenty of markets nearby that charge rational & national prices (including here loyalty rewards and discounts)!! GREEDY!!
