UPDATE 01/28/21
(This is for the UWS location, as I think the reviews might be pooled with the other locations.)
Food has become much better. Salmon seems to be different than before, and is something I now regularly order, as is fried okra, mashed potatoes, whipped sweet potatoes, etc. The lemonade is very good (and comes complimentary with lunch, or a choice of brewed iced tea.)
The fried seafood is still frozen - fare. Just what it is. You can't expect fresh seafood on a bbq and rotisserie chicken menu any more than you would for a diner with a 30 page menu. I'm ok with that (I just don't order it.)
The "carvers" turkey is surprisingly good. Dressing/stuffing is hit or miss, with the frequent issue of carrots and celery being in huge chunks instead of diced, making it odd to eat. The flavor is ok, and when the veggies are diced, the stuffing is quite good.
I am still not a fan of the chicken seasonings (both rotisserie and fried.) It's my preference, so I don't fault them for me not liking their seasoning, as the chicken is prepared well. Tastes a bit like Old Bay seasoning, but then not. A few bitter notes in the seasoning that leave an aftertaste I really don't like. Too bad, considering the product itself in both cases is quite good. Sometimes, less is more. If the chicken wasn't so heavily seasoned with the seasoning, I could get around it. Juicy, good breading on the fried, well prepared. The seasonings just make it a firm no for me. I'm sure other people will like it, so decide for yourself. It will be a good chicken meal regardless of your take on the seasoning.
Salads are a good value. If it is takeout or delivery, I order salads without croutons because they always end up on the salad and absorb moisture, making them soggy and unpalatable once it gets to the destination. They are tasty when ordered for a meal at the restaurant, which is difficult to do these days. Wrapping the croutons in plastic wrap or in a small sandwich bag to include with the salad would fix the problem, as the croutons are good, but aren't packaged correctly for transit.
Bbq items are good. Ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken, etc... No complaints. Not something I order all the time, but good when I do.
Do be aware that a year into the pandemic, all of the websites for Texas Rotisserie still say they close at 10:30pm, even though they switched to earlier cutoff almost a year ago. 9:30 for delivery (meaning their last delivery goes out by 9:30, so you have to order by 9:00 for delivery,) and the store closes at 10:00 (meaning going home, not taking the last order.) If you haven't ordered online for delivery by 9pm or you haven't stopped in by 9:30pm for takeout, you missed the cutoff. What the hours should read is "delivery orders until 9pm and last pickup ordered by 9:30pm" to allow their delivery people to leave at 9:30 and the restaurant to start final closing cleanup if no takeout orders are there by 9:30. It takes 20+ min to make a meal, so this makes sense. Wish the website didn't say 10:30pm, which is clearly wrong.
(2019) Overpriced bad facimile of Dallas BBQ. Frozen shrimp. Blackened salmon tasted frozen as well. Fried okra was decent. Mashed potatoes and gravy were in a plastic container that I believe they were headed in from frozen. Instant potatoes and gravy from a package, but with the moisture separated because it was frozen and reheated.
Shrimp appetizer was 6 frozen shrimp for $9, and the frozen salmon with 2 sides was $18. $35 after soda, tax, and tip. Same dinner at Dallas BBQ would have been almost 50% less. Price comparison - whole rotisserie chicken at Texas Rotisserie is $16/Dallas BBQ is $10. 1/4 chicken and sides is $13 at Texas Rotisserie and $9 at Dallas BBQ.
The location is surprisingly small, because even looking in the window, the mirrors and the 2nd floor (not theirs) give the impression of a spralling restaurant. Maybe 10 small bistro tables. Dining area looks like a non-updated Wendys from the 1970s. Plastic plates and flatware.
Would not go back for...

I ordered the ribs/chicken combo & the Corona battered fried codfish with 4 sides and cornbread. The cornbread was decent, BUT the Ribs were AWFUL-AWFUL. I was served an old stale half of slab of ribs, which most likely was microwaved & then saturated with BBQ sauce to cover up the dried out slab. Unbelievably ridiculous to say the least. My fish, that get everytime I visit was, soggy tasteless. The fried chicken was dried. My mashed sweet potatoes, were a watery mushy tasteless paste. The baked beans, were so watery, I thought I was given bean soup. I can't begin to explain the so-called "cole-slaw." This was my 1st time ordering the ribs- I'm going to need a refund for some of this GOD awful food. Are you kidding me? $53 bucks for tasteless, ill prepared food. Please ST🛑P I know about restaurant food, in particular bbq meats. I was a co-owner of Silky's Ribs of Hackensack at the turn of this century in NJ. We made the best ribs and soulfood sides in Bergen Cty. We should have bottled our sauce, that's how great it was. I'm looking for a email address so that I may contact them directly. I truly hope they see this post and reach out. This was not a good experience at all😡
It's was pretty cool, Nice menu selection with fairly good prices. Generous portions. Assorted desserts & beverages. The (1) thing was that the server failed to put the BBQ sauces and condiments in the bag. I specifically asked the server if everything, bbq sauces & condiments and plastic ware were in the bag....
Read moreRecently, I ordered a half roasted chicken meal, plus chicken soup. Unfortunately, the chicken was a bit over cooked, which meant that there were parts of it that just were inedible. Too dry to really enjoy. I chose the stuffing and mashed sweet potatoes for sides. The stuffing was OK, but not great. And after my experience with the chicken and stuffing, I just was not really inspired to eat the sweet potatoes! I also ordered chicken soup and it turned out to be pretty unremarkable. The cornbread turned out to be corn muffins and they were also a bit dry. I know that it’s ultimately a matter of taste, but it just really did not “hit the spot“ for me. In the past, I have had the chicken Caesar wrap, which I liked. That seems to be a good choice for getting something on the go. But overall, I found this to be a disappointing experience. Next time, for roast chicken, I might return to “chirping chicken“ or Zabar’s. That’s the goal in New York… To find the BEST of what you’re looking for. And if it’s only mediocre, Then it can be pretty disappointing. I wish these people well. Imagine what it would be like to have a store where everybody knows they’re going to get the very...
