Newport Candy Shoppe — Attraction in Newport

Amazing fudge!!! We ordered the following flavors - peanut butter (with Reese's Pieces and peanut butter cups), dark chocolate salted caramel, espresso, and dark chocolate walnut. It was the perfect texture, very smooth and leaning towards a softer consistency that melts in your mouth. Love it!

My only complaint is that I ordered the chocolate walnut fudge and pointed to the darker option in the case. They weighed out my fudge and I paid (bring cash!!), then just before the girl bagged my candy up, I noticed the chocolate walnut was the lighter, milk chocolate option. I asked if we could trade it out for the dark chocolate walnut. She was nice about exchanging it but grabbed the lone piece of fudge sitting on top of the rest of the fudge. I think it was the sample piece because it was noticeably smaller than the other three pieces I purchased. Since it's purchased by the weight, I wish I had a piece that was similar to what was exchanged.

I also tried their Peanut Butter Crispy bar, which was a layer of peanut butter filling with rice crispies and a layer of chewy caramel with peanuts, covered in milk or dark chocolate. I went back during the same trip just to get more of it since I've never had...

We were visiting the coast on Friday 7/18/2025. We used to live here and remembered how much we enjoyed the bay front and a few shops including Newport Candy Shoppe. Today we were met with the rudest customer service. I had walked up with a small bagged taffy in hand and was getting ready to ask for some sour. Cherries and the young man at the counter, saw me walk up and turned around to talk to the other gal. That was working completely ignoring my hello. I tried to say hi and hello three times before he finally turned around and looked at me. I made my request politely to get some sour cherries and he mumbled at me and said something to the girl and the girl helped me but seemd to be in a mood. She was rude to my kids as well when they asked for fudge. She was not friendly nor polite. When weighing our stuff, she was slamming our bags around. There was no thank you.There was no, please, there was no. How are you? Etc. Zero basic customer service. We have been in many times before. I have never experienced this with any of the many visits we used to do. It was very disappointing, especially on the day of my child's birthday and this being such an iconic store for their...

This candy shop was super amazing, exactly what I was hoping for when I search for candy shop on the coast. My nine-year-old daughter was literally "as happy as a kid in the candy shop". Their saltwater Taffy was amazing, they had so many bins with so many flavors and you were welcome to sample any of it. They also offered samples of ice cream flavors but my daughter already knew what she wanted. We get back to the car with our ice cream and Taffy and my husband looked at my daughter's ice cream and goes into the store and gets one of his own. He had Cherry in a waffle cone and it was so amazing and creamy. As we were driving to leave our little one woke up and saw her sisters ice cream so we drove back to Newport candy shop to get the little one an ice cream as well. I just want to point out that it's that good to drive back as opposed to get one on the way home the whole inviting ice cream shop candy...
