St Paul's Episcopal Cathedral — Attraction in Oklahoma City

Dean Katie Churchwell is an amazing priest, pastor and person. Several years ago, in response to a hurricane in Florida, she launched an initiative on Facebook called Pop Up Prayer. It continues to this day to be a vibrant and growing online community of people who gather for daily prayer and support. I am honored and blessed to be a part of this network of loving and caring souls.

Dean Churchwell is insightful, caring, and gifted. Her resume speaks volumes to her education and experience. She is known for her passion for justice and walking along side those in need. From her advocacy for the diverse and beloved community of God, including children, those affected by gun violence, POC and others who are marginalized, to leading prayers on a walkabout thru the parish neighborhood, community programs that focus on health and wellness, or marching in PRIDE celebrations, Katie most assuredly walks the talk. She is simply the example of a life lived in service to the Beatitudes.

I have personally experienced her pastoral care through the death of my wife. She was a brightly burning candle in an otherwise darkened corner of my heart. I will be forever grateful for her selfless service and Christlike compassion.

Each night she ends her prayers with us by saying, "You are loved. You are so loved by God. No exceptions, no matter what." In a world that is aching for that kind of unconditional presence and acceptance, she is balm for the suffering and the calm within the storm.

This church is right by the Oklahoma City federal bombing site and was affected. It has a deep Native American history. It has a deep Civil Rights and Human Rights history. It offers a variety of services as a rebirthed inner city congregation. And has sometimes been an emergency services site. They offer special live music concerts of world class music. My church is amazing , and very welcoming Anyone can come, and they are all about the love for community, fellow man, homeless or not, wear what you want, no judgement here- they will accept everyone And Dean Katie is an angel , and an amazing Dean.
