Michaels has failed me for the last time. I meticulously chose this location because according to the website they had all things I needed in stock. I drove 45 minutes out of my way to pick up my order which was paid for in advance. When I arrived they did not have the items and told me I would be refunded. I was not refunded the full amount paid for those items. If anything I should be given a coupon or voucher, not be robbed of my time and money for THEIR failure.
I know this seems like I’m being dramatic but this is not the biggest or first issue I’ve had with them which sucks coming from a loyal customer that spends money there at LEAST once a week almost every week for almost 12 years. Hobby lobby, Joanns fabric and the internet are the way to go for art and craft supplies moving forward.
The Sanford location cashier told me if I applied for the credit card I would get 20% off my purchase and could opt out of getting the card which I made VERY clear I did NOT want. She pretended to charge my debit card as I wanted to pay with my debit card but she ACTUALLY charged the credit card that I told her I did not want. She lied to my face to make a few bucks and neither customer service nor the bank cared to do anything about this after months of battles. The credit card company continues to charge me fees every month even after I paid off the balance on time and tried to cancel several times. Even if I do manage to cancel my credit score will be negatively impacted for what is essentially fraud. The fees equaled over 8x the %20 discount along with a ton of wasted time and frustration because I believe in the principal of the situation and trying to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else. Read moreI think Michael's in general is a decent store and some of their products are pretty, though a lot suffer the side effects of mass reproduction. I have bought a frame here and realized it was broken, went back to exchange it for the same one only to realize that all the same ones were broken/defective on the shelf. Just recently I got an artwork print from an artist which was around $120. It was on very delicate canvas paper and the ink was susceptible to fingerprints. I took it here to get it professionally framed for the price of $80 (on sale with the bare minimum package) which is pretty steep. I would be more accepting of the price if they had done a good job with the framing. I picked it up to find that part of my artwork had a small defect/rip that was not previously there and it's extremely obvious because that section of the print was black - the white canvas paper was showing through from the rip. I also noticed a fingerprint on part of the black parts of the ink. My last complaint about the framing job is the typed print on the right side peeking out behind the frame (pictured below). It's not even symmetrically placed in the frame. This framing center is a joke. Really unprofessional job there. Update: I have gone back to get the issue resolved and they sent it back in to get it re-framed and they covered the scratch in the canvas paper with some black ink. Doesn't change the fact that it got scratched in the first place. I opted to submit a claim on my artwork and it's been months of radio silence. Read moreI've had mixed customers service. I had to return a damaged item and was told that they don't sell the item im returning . To which I replied I only shop at this location and purchased it here . And then to made out to be a liar from the sales associate. Stating that the brand of paint set is sold elsewhere. I told the sales associate exactly where I found it in the store . To which she replied well if you want you can go look and see if you want. I couldn't make this up and I found the set not on the floor because they hadn't being replenish but at the very top of the shelf. I took one down and then return to checkout and told the associate im done talking to her . She doesn't know her own store or how to speak to a customer. Another manager just told me to take the set and leave the damaged one . No sorry or anything. Then yesterday I ordered curbside pick up and for some reason my order was sent to a location a hour away . I've only done pickup here . When I went into pick up my order I noticed the mistake and ask the manager if the order could be processed here. She said no and that I had to call the order location and get my refund before they could order for me . No let me put the item on hold or let me get your refund sorted Nothing.
