I had an extremely enjoyable experience tonight at Blind Dog Restaurant & Raw Bar in Park City, and I want to give a huge shoutout to the staff—especially my waiter, Javi.
As someone with a severe peanut/tree nut allergy, dining out can be stressful. Tonight, I actually talked myself through a mild panic attack at dinner because I thought my tongue was going numb due to an unknown ingredient in my sushi roll. It turns out—it was just really spicy! (And DELICIOUS!)
From the start, Javi was incredibly understanding and immediately pointed out that anything fried is cooked in peanut oil, so I should avoid those items. Interestingly, highly refined peanut oil is generally considered safe for people with peanut allergies, as the refining process removes the proteins that trigger reactions—but I still appreciated the transparency.
I ordered the Redneck Caprese Salad, which features fried green tomatoes, burrata, heirloom baby tomatoes, basil, and aged balsamic. When Javi came back to get my sushi plate, he subtly—but importantly—double-checked my allergy for my safety. He let me know that my salad was almost ready but reminded me that the green tomatoes are fried in peanut oil. He reassured me that since we had already discussed it, everything would be fine.
During my panic attack, every part of my mouth felt like it was burning. Were my lips just chapped from the slopes, or were they swelling from an allergic reaction? It was terrifying. But when I replayed the events in my mind, I remembered how professional and thorough the staff had been. I reminded myself that I was in good hands, and that reassurance helped me pull myself out of my anxiety spiral. From that moment on, I was able to fully savor every bite of my meal. That peace of mind was absolutely priceless.
To top it off, when I ordered dessert, Jeffrey, another member of the dining team, casually mentioned that the owner has a walnut allergy, so they take food allergies very seriously—and it shows.
Thank you, Javi, Jeffrey, and the entire Blind Dog team, for your professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail. You truly...
Read moreI have heard the best things about this place for YEARS, and I was excited to finally get the opportunity to go. I hardly ever leave reviews, and the only reason I’m Rating 3 stars is because I was really impressed with the food…but I was extremely unimpressed with the service. The food? Fantastic. Great French Onion Soup with delicious flavor, yummy entrees, and good drinks. The Pear cocktail I had was a little too sweet, maybe even a little syrupy, but it was still good and worth drinking. The service? A major disappointment. Our server messed up so many things during and after our meal that by the time we left, we were admittedly a little frustrated. We initially ordered a seaweed salad, but got a cucumber salad when they brought it to the table instead. They sent out a dish of the seaweed salad that we were supposed to have, and everything was good. We asked for a second margarita, and it never came. We were given the bill before we were even finished with our meal, and were not offered any sort of dessert options. We tried to politely remind our server multiple times that we had asked for a side of balsamic before it was brought out nearly 20 minutes later. At one point during the meal, our server even started randomly talking about his time he spent in jail? I’m all for good conversations with your waiter/waitress, but there’s just some things that you don’t need to share with your guests… after our server ran the card and handed our bill back to us, he proceeded to bring us another bill and tell us he had comped drinks off of our table that we never ordered, and then brought us the bill from another table, not once, but twice. The food was absolutely delicious, but the service made for an extremely unpleasant experience that makes me not want to go back. Our server was just genuinely careless and not present at all, and I hate to say that because I was genuinely excited to try this...
Read moreI'm a certified Sommolier level 2 and Weset 3 diploma holder and love going to local places when I travel and I'm no stranger to park city and it's nice offerings!
The decor and vibe of the place is very comfortable and while the staff might not be super educated in their food/drinks list they are good with food/drink recommendations and give you a warm smile with fast service.
Started with Champagne for the table and they don't have the best glass wear for the wines they carry but that doesn't matter too much...she opened that cork silently and provided me with an ice bucket so I was pleased.
Service is fast and the food is fantastic with solid presentations, was also nice we were easily seated as a larger party. The sourdough bread for the table is so soft and very tasty. The Snakeriver Filet is absolutely delicious so much flavor and was perfectly medium rare (melts in your mouth), I also asked for the green beans which were excellent. The Dreamloaf is also very good but wow that Cream spinach is maybe the best I've ever had! The crispy pork belly dumplings are tasty with a fitting sauce. I think one of the most surprising things was the freshness of the sushi, the menu has so much variety but it was actually all good having ordered quite a few different things. Also they use real wasabi not horseradish and the sauces were pleasing to all the options we had on the table.
Dessert list is better than almost every other average restaurant with lots of solid coffee and dessert wine options! My god the frozen lemon pie is so good, the lychee sorbet is divine and the Coffee ice cream with the brownie is just a perfect paring.
Overall, this is a great place lots of variety with great options, good wines, and friendly service that is quick. Only thing that I didn't like was the cocktails that did get ordered specifically the espresso martini was not good, the old fashioned was fine...
