I like IMax. I just never have had a great experience at this location. For whatever reason, they seem to hire staff that just does not want to be bothered to help. I was there recently for a private event, and was sorely disappointed in the management and staff. There were a ton of people working, but very few actually working. When the catered food proved to be unsafe (I have Celiac. I normally bring food just in case, but only grabbed a protein cookie on this occasion because I figured I would get something fro the concession stand. I went up to the register, while at least 10 employees were squeezed into the concession area, and they were all leaned against the back counter and talking amongst themselves. It took five minutes to get anyone's attention. One of the women walked over, and with some attitude, she pointed out the soda and popcorn they had set out and asked what I needed. I told her my situation, and asked if any of their food were wheat/gluten free. (Not an uncommon request in crunchy California, although for me gluten actually damages my gut.) She told me that they had nothing only things like ice cream, pop corn, and hot dogs. It took me a second, but I managed to hold back the frustration and explained that aside from the hot dog bun, all of those items are usually gluten free. She changed her toon very quickly, and asked me what I would like to buy. I told her that I would not be purchasing anything after getting snapped at for breaking up their gossip fest. (There were some local "celebrities" there.) Every other experience there has been similar. The theater is okay, bit the staff leaves something...

Read moreSmall independent IMAX theater with one screen - comfy seats, clean facilities, the standard snacks. A lot of food and parking options nearby too. I also like how you can peer in the projection booth. However I’m writing a poor review for a number of reasons:
I called and asked an employee about a week before if it would be a 70mm film screening. This is because it was pretty sold out in SF and I was going to be traveling near Lodi and I’d drive up if it was available. They said yes it was 70mm so I bought tickets. It was digital projection instead. Still looked great, but definitely not the same and I wouldn’t have driven an hour if I had known it wasn’t 70mm.
Tickets aren’t refundable. This is clearly stated on their website but I think there should be some flexibility to their policy. I accidentally bought tickets for Sunday. I realized it right away. However the only way to exchange for a different day was in-person and again I don’t live in Sacramento. So I bought tickets for Saturday (again, very passionate about 70mm) and no refund was possible. I accept that that’s their policy but I think it’d be worth considering some exceptions for example if you contact them within an hour of purchase, or allowing date exchanges via email.
There are two big dark marks in the center of their screen that distract from the film especially in...
