I was so impressed. I am not Mormon or any other religion. That did not seem matter to the wonderful and kind Elders that were there. They took me through this magnificent edifice and told me the story of the love, devotion, passion and sacrifice that went into building this amazing Tabernacle. The building is so beautiful. I was able to see with my own eyes the hearts and souls of the craftsmen who truly poured their hearts, bodies and minds into their work. I was made welcome. I was made to feel I belonged there. If you ever visit St. George you must vist this Tabernacle and...

Fascinating pioneer structure built in the 1860's by early settlers who had little. I love the history and true stories this building contains. Only those who were truly committed to what they believed in could have dug the basement out of red rock and sand for 2 YEARS by hand, shovel & pick-ax. Short, guided 20 minute tours which take you up, down and around the balcony, podium and meeting room, which is now a community performance center. Don't miss the poems folded into a small can by one of the workmen, and found over 100 years later...

Beautiful and historic! From a personal stand point 5 out of 5 stars. However, if you are taking a group of people with wheelchairs or walkers be aware that while it is wheelchair accessible getting into the Tabernacle, once inside there is not really anywhere to put people who are in wheelchairs (especially when it's a full house). The isles and hallways are narrow and elevator is small. If you have people in wheelchairs who need to use the restroom it is very difficult to...

A great place to take family or for a date night. Most if not all events are free. We spent this last Independence Day here where they had civil war era artifacts, performances, and Glenn Beck popped in for a short discussion. The kids loved watching the old fashion printing press. We also had the standard tour for the kids first time, they loved the grapes the and organ pipes. Such a beautiful place, if you have the time it's well worth it.

Built in 1875, this building is about as old as any you'll find in the western United States. But it's been immaculately maintained and has a lovely feel to it. We went and watched a Tony Bennett tribute there and while not perfect, the acoustics were pretty good. Between the music and the classic setting, made for a really nice evening. The tabernacle is also surrounded by well kept grounds and is a must see if visiting St George.
