Review for Poet’s Passage, Old San Juan
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you find yourself wandering the charming streets of Old San Juan, make sure to stop by the Poet’s Passage. This hidden gem is a vibrant celebration of local art and poetry that truly captures the spirit of Puerto Rico.
As soon as you step inside, you’re greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere, adorned with beautiful paintings from the talented local artist Nico. His work is a stunning reflection of the island’s culture and landscapes, and each piece tells a story that draws you in. It’s clear that Nico pours his heart into his art, and it’s a joy to see his passion on display.
But the magic doesn’t stop there! The Poet’s Passage is also home to the enchanting works of Lady Lee Andrews, Nico’s poet wife. Her books are a treasure trove of emotion and insight, and you can feel the love and dedication she puts into her writing. I found myself lost in her words, which beautifully complement the visual art surrounding you.
What really impressed me was the inclusion of up-and-coming local artist Andrés Miró Lugo. His fresh perspective and unique style add a dynamic touch to the space, showcasing the incredible talent that Puerto Rico has to offer. It’s inspiring to see a place that not only supports established artists but also nurtures new voices in the community.
Whether you’re looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a cup of coffee, a place to immerse yourself in local art, or simply a moment of reflection, the Poet’s Passage is the perfect destination. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to share the stories behind the art and the artists.
In a world that often feels rushed, this little haven invites you to slow down, appreciate beauty, and connect with the creative spirit of Puerto Rico. I left feeling uplifted and inspired, and I can’t wait to return! Highly recommend for anyone visiting...
Read moreWhat a day, I finally got to meet Lady Lee Andrews. She is a reason I was originally drawn to The Poet's Passage when I found here poetry quotes from yet a different place I purchased years back. Ironically, one of her quotes adorned my friends business wall in New Orleans for years before closing. The blue night light art that accentuates Old San Juan's evening ambience is hypnotic. It has to be the best illustration of the city in my opinion. Combined with Poets night and true artistic spirit, the high ceilings, the landmark architecture and mosaic of artwork is truly genuine and so appreciated. I have brought everyone I love here and realized today that it is because a part of myself resonates deeply with the words, colors and expressions. Thank you Lady Lee Andrews. You must have truly moved more than this soul. I look forward...
Read moreThe art and the poetry here are stunning, but what stands out the most is poet and owner, Lady Lothlorien (yep, she’s Puerto Rico born and raised, but her birth name really is pulled straight out of The Lord of the Rings). She might just be the kindest person I’ve ever met. And when I thank God for my trip to Puerto Rico, it’ll be for the natural and historic beauty, the great weather and food, but perhaps most of all, for the opportunity to meet Lady Lothlorien.
Lady, if you’re reading this, I just want to let you know that your mother would be so proud. Don’t ever let the financials of running a business get you down. Keep doing what you do best; making great art and making people feel right at home.
