AMC Southcenter 16 — Attraction in Tukwila

My partner and I are AMC A-List members and go to the movies several times per month. I have attended around 45 films at AMC Southcenter 16 since becoming a member after the theatres reopened in March of 2021. With that being stated, the security at the Westfield Southcenter Mall and AMC Southcenter 16 have both become apparently lacking, especially as of this past summer. Multiple fights and even a shooting on the property have occurred.

With that being stated, my main complaint surrounding this review comes from a movie that my partner, friends, and I attended on December 25th, 2023. We were attending a showing of 'The Color Purple' in Auditorium #7 in row G (left) at 6:00pm. The theatre was fine until the infamous "dinner scene" about two-thirds through the film, when an audible argument began to take place in row H (center) between two male patrons. It was apparent that one of the patrons, the row behind row H (which would have been row I) had been kicking the headrest of the man in front of him (row H).

This led to both becoming verbally aggressive and both standing up to fight each other physically. As one of the patrons grabbed something (a black object; I didn't know if it was a weapon) and people began to scream, I proceeded to yell for people to "get down and run", which they already had proceeded with doing. As I ran along with 30+ patrons out of the theatre and into the lobby, there was confusion from staff and security of how to respond. No official announcement was made. However, people were lining up for refunds, some standing in confusion, some were shocked, and even crying.

To make matters worse, the two people involved ran out of the emergency exit, and the security personnel couldn't find them. All of our belongings were left behind, and they refused to stop the film after it had been evacuated, get the items, or simply stop the film for us to go in and retrieve them. Several patrons were too upset to go into a dark, empty theatre to do so for various reasons (physical/psychological). The whole matter was mishandled, and there was no apology or recourse by the AMC staff on duty.

The whole experience was unacceptable and disturbing, and it will likely take some time for me to personally feel comfortable returning to this venue as I can not guarantee that it is a safe...

There's a new hire at AMC theater here at Southcenter her name is " DARNESHA ". She always goes above and beyond by greeting you with her big beautiful smile and always being polite and courteous and there to help she's like a breath of fresh air around the theater all of people there are always great but she really stands out!!! I just want to give her a big round of applause and you guys are lucky to have her as an employee I hope she sticks around cuz she's definitely is an asset to your theater

On a different note I don't know what's going on with your air system there but either you need to get the owner of the mall to fix it replace it or turn it on I have left two or three movies this summer because it's so hot it's ridiculous it's not just the theater it's the whole mall if you guys can't afford to run it properly then you shouldn't run it at all I'm so irritated and sick and tired of having to come up and tell people it's hot in here I mean it's so hot it's like walking out in the streets of Las Vegas slap you in the face like I said I've left movies I actually left one today because it was so freaking hot in there and it's School season people are shopping and spending money that's what people come to the mall to do but when it's so freaking hot in there it makes people cranky and they're not as likely to spend as much money as it normally would they're probably saying let's get out of here cuz it's so hot you guys are losing money whether you realize it or not you guys need to figure out this problem I've been coming to this mall for 25 years and it's going to be getting hotter and hotter if you haven't got the memo the world's weather is changing and you need to step up and make your changes to your facility to accommodate the people that come here to spend money hello are you too cheap to turn it up or you need to buy a new one for the love of God...
