We first came in after walking around the mall for a bit. I already really don’t like zoo’s considering how they keep animals inside small cages and habitats. Upon arriving, the staff were nice, but pretty awkward and non communicative. We found out we could feed some of the animals, so we bought tokens which upped the price to up to $40. Come to find out I was right about the enclosures. These enclosures are TINY. We went in the feed birds, tortoises, turtles, & fish. What most concerned me was the alligator. The alligator enclosure is small and the gator is always just standing there. I never see the gator play, it just stands there. It has one spot to perch up on, and a small pool. Considering the gator is still a baby, I don’t worry as much, but what about when it grows? When it came to feeding the birds, the employee was really quiet and didn’t even look at us. He just walked us into the bird cage and sat down as we fed them. I had my partner there luckily it wasn’t awkward, but damn it really would have been an awkward experience having someone right next to me just silently staring at his phone or on the ground. We made the most of it though, not impressed, but it’s a great experience for kids. They do have a really sweet adoption option for anybody interested in...
Read moreOh my gosh this place is absolutely amazing!!! Phoenix is my most favorite animal there. I could just take her home and love her every day if I could! I've been here a million times and am always blown away with either a new animal or a new tidbit of information. I can spend hours here feeding the animals and fish! Josh before he opened the Zoo, helped me overcome my fear of snakes and now I own 2! His love and dedication to his animals and reptiles is just so encouraging and downright wonderful. My son works at the zoo now, and the amount of information he has retained and passes on is just astonishing! I learn something new all the time. If I ever run away, just know I'll be camped out with Phoenix the cockatoo and Willow the porcupine! Thank you to the MOST wonderful, friendliest, and KNOWLEDGEABLE staff I've ever witnessed at a zoo. Rachel and Josh, you 2 have formed a true sanctuary for animals and people alike. Anyone asks me what to do in this town, hands down this is the first on the list, oh and of course I'm meeting them there!...
Read moreHighly recommend this zoo if you're in the area and worth the trip if not. You can interact with a lot of the animals. Mostly reptiles but they do have a porcupine and some birds as well. There are a couple saltwater tanks with some coral and fish, a large river scene with quite a few rainbows. The massive sulcata tortoises have to be seen to believe, crab man is giant and he's only going to get bigger. You can scritch their shells too, they may even wiggle a bit in response. There is also a large pond with several smaller turtles you might get a chance to feed. If they can get past the school of goldfish. Couple of my kids got to fee the parakeets as well which was a blast, the flock is a lot of fun to watch. They'll swoop down, eat, then scatter back up for no apparent reason. The macaws have great curious personalities and enjoy watching you watching them. This is also home to the Southern Idaho...
