Was in there last week with my family. Bought a gallon of milk, half gallon of OJ, bread and a 12 pack of Pepsi. The cashier put the bread and OJ in the same bag. I asked her if she could not do that. I mean really who wants smushed bread. She then set the OJ with my milk and not bag it. The she was upset because I didn’t tell her at the beginning of the transaction that I had WIC so we had to start almost over. While she was scanning my WIC items, I put the OJ in a bag. She then proceeded to tell me that they don’t like to put just one item in bags. I told her that I don’t like smushed bread. She said that the bags are too expensive to waste in one item per bag and that they charge for bags. She didn’t this time because it was just one item.

Read moreThis is a family market. If you're looking for chain store experience/inventory then you'll be disappointed. But if you want fresh food, friendly staff (treated us like neighbors instead of tourists) and good prices you'll love it here. You'll also enjoy some of the handmade fudge, etc. from the area without having to fight the crowds in the specialty shops. My service dog was readily accepted here (actually, my SD was readily accepted everywhere in the Mackinac area). All in all, my husband and I enjoyed our visit and the picnic lunch we put together at the Mackinaw...
