We absolutely lucked out! With so many hotel options in Vienna, Palais Mailberger Hof is a true gem and a perfect retreat.
Tucked away on a side street in the heart of the Innenstadt, it had the perfect combination of tranquility and accessibility. Many major sights were just a short stroll away, and we loved being able to pop back to our room to refresh between outings. I must mention that the concierge and whole staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. We were traveling with our 7 month old baby, and he cooed with joy every time we came back to our room. The staff would greet us with a smile and interact with him, making us feel welcome and at home.
The hotel has been recently renovated, and the attention to detail they have put into each aspect of the stay is extraordinary. Our room was beautiful — modern furnishings, comfortable bed, soaring ceilings, excellent soundproofing, and a spa features like a rain shower head and fluffy robes.
My absolutely favorite part of our stay was the breakfast — absolutely worth the extra cost at booking. It felt like a luxurious event each morning. Our wonderful servers, Rick and Anna, were warm and friendly and we loved starting our day with them. Alongside a full buffet of fresh-baked goods, gourmet meats and cheeses, we could order hot dishes from the kitchen. We particularly loved the Shakshuka and eggs benedict. The cappuccinos were perfection — rich, velvety, and made with care. We’re admittedly coffee snobs and were impressed by the quality of the drinks each morning. We also enjoyed visiting the bar in the evening and getting a nightcap before heading up to bed.
When I think back on Vienna, my stay here will be a highlight. And if I visit again, this will be the place I...
Read moreThe staff and location are both excellent. Staff is helpful and friendly. The room is cleaned daily.
However, this hotel is extremely expensive for what it offers. The breakfast is not included and you need to pay extra for it. I am not a breakfast person, so I was hoping to have a coffee machine with some coffee or tea in the room, but there was none
The room is very basic and less than basic even. There is no mini fridge or coffee machine. I asked for a kettle and the staff provided, then I had to go out buy coffee, tea and sugar which is usually provided by the hotel, especially this ranking of a hotel.
The elevator fits one person with a small luggage.
The double bed is just two single beds/ mattresses put together, and of course, you fall in between during your sleep.
The gym is just a corner in the sauna area and too hot to be used because it isn't well ventilated.
The bed sheets, pillow cases, pillows, and mattresses everything has to do with the bed are made of polyester, which made my skin so so so itchy and made electrostatic in my hair. Having polyester bed linen should be a crime.
The problem is that this area is popular and hotels get booked so fast so if I found other places I wouldn't really consider this hotel because of the little value for a lot...
Read moreMy daughter and I had a wonderful two night stay here. Although the location is in the heart of the city (The State Opera is a 2 minute walk) the Hotel itself is quietly luxurious. The Spa is open around the clock and doesn't cost extra as they usually do in the UK. It is small but has a sauna, some gym equipment and showers and towels. Dressing gowns, slippers and towels are all provided in the rooms. The spa has some refreshments provided (herbal teas, water and fruit) for guests to help themselves. The rooms have water and fruit but you can get hot drinks anytime in the bar/restaurant or brought to your room. Our room overlooked the courtyard where there are comfortable armchairs in which to relax. The room was very comfortable with high quality bedding and toiletries. The staff made everything special. Whatever we needed was ours for the asking. Their catchphrase seems to be 'everything is possible' and all with a smile. Breakfast is fabulous. Everything beautifully cooked and presented with a huge variety to choose from. I would like to thank the staff for making our stay in Vienna...
