I’ve been to Elissar several times and it’s always been a great experience but my latest experience will probably be the reason why I will never ever return. We were a party of 2 and visited on 14 June evening for dinner and was quickly shown to our table. My assigned waiter was cold from the get go and asked if we’d like to start with something to drink. We said we’d start with tap water first while we look through the menu. The tap water never came. We then proceeded to order proper drinks and food off the menu and asked again for a side of tap water. After 15 minutes, all the food and drinks came EXCEPT the tap water. We then asked a different waiter for tap water and finally got it after the third time. After our meal, we asked for the bill from the original, cold, unfriendly waiter. The bill came up to be 73,50. We requested that we easily split the bill by 50% for each person. The waiter then asked if we would like to add a tip. We said we would leave it in cash. The waiter then very rudely asked “how am I supposed to split 73,50 then?” Tired of dealing with this, I just asked him to round it up to 75, and suddenly this became easier for him to calculate. The waiter did not even say thank you or goodbye but simply took his card payment machine and walked off after collecting payment from us. I fed my experience back to the front of house and got a very patronising “ok thank you”. It’s such a pity that this was my experience because the food is great and the other waiters were actually superb and attentive. While I enjoy the food, I will not return as I do not want to be treated this way as a paying guest. No one should be treated this way.

We ate here this evening (19/6/23) the last night of our 21 days in Europe. We travel often & don’t have high service expectations, so when I say the service was abysmal it was very, very bad even by European standards. We had a reservation but were seated at a mediocre table outside. We waited a while to order & finally had to flag the waiter. Tables that seated at the same time were already getting food. We ordered salad, two cold starters & one warm and a sparkling water. The water was brought out & drop on the table. Not opened & poured. And then we waited & waited for our food. When it was brought out it went to the wrong table. When we finally got the 4 dishes the waiter literally tossed them on the table & left. There were no serving spoons supplied. We couldn’t flag the waiter so we went to the sideboard & found spoons ourselves. No one came to ask if we needed anything else etc. We had to flag the waiter for the check - at that point he asked how were things- we said plainly- “the food was great but the service was horrible.” He laughed and said thank you, sarcastically. To top it off we were over charged. It was extremely disappointing especially since we had two very nice experiences here in Sept ‘22. The service then was good/efficient- no complaints. At least the food was excellent as always (it really was 5 stars+!!) but the evening was not enjoyable due to the service received. I’m not sure if we will return or not next time we are in Vienna. Time will tell.

A great dinner place with lovely atmosphere. Elissar is one of those places where you like to go over and over again and being greeted as a regular customer. The place: the restaurant present itself as an upscale Lebanese restaurant and delivers greatly. The terrace is really nice and the interior design of the main dining room is beautiful. The place is always packed but never overwhelming. It just brings the right vibe for a pleasant night in 2 or with friends. The service: service can seem to some a bit abrupt from time to time. But overall it is professional and friendly. You can crack a joke and have fun. Reservation and flexibility were perfectly handled. The food: honestly I'm not Lebanese nor Middle Eastern food expert. On the contrary it is a kind of food I have only recently discovered and learned to love and enjoy. My experiences are limited, but Elissar delivers simply great flavourful food that I keep enjoying every time I go there. Love the meat and in particular their Soujouk sausages. Desserts are great as well. Discovered thanks to a Lebanese friend a few years ago, I really enjoy hitting the place regularly. It's not on the cheapest side, but prices seem in line with Vienna restaurant scene, especially considering quality of food and environment. It's a beautiful place where you can spend an great night eating outstanding food. What else can you ask for?

The only thing good I like about Elissar is the food – thanks and kudos to the chef for quick and good food.

The downside and poor experience is as below Its a hot day and I asked the server to please give some normal tap water as we got our table, but he insisted to order food quickly to avoid wait and we ordered it I again asked for ‘normal tap water’ twice, and he finally got a bottle of water and said that its ‘still water’. I asked whether this is normal tap water - answer came that its ‘still water’. I asked again whether this ‘chargeable’ and answer came ‘nothing’. I then spoke to another guy who said that this water is chargeable and mentioned that we do not serve ‘tap water’ unless customer order drinks (tells me that this is norm in Austria). I had eaten in 5 other good / better restaurants but this was weird to me. I got bit upset and he finally gave me tap water to drink as a big obligation Later the server got food and kept some side breads, which I told him that we did not order (as I got suspicious about this place) but he said that these are part of the food, so we had it finally the bill came with extras of breads + water + one dish which we never got to eat. Inflated by about 30+ euros

I got very upset and had bit heated argument with the manager and he reluctantly removed the extras but was definitely not a pleasant experience at this kind of place.

I sensed that the place is used to inflate the bill since there were lot of rich guests, who may not bother for the bill, but I found this to be an 'unethical practice'. These things do not happen in western Europe at all but this was definitely an aberration to ‘norm’.

Recommend to be bit careful with Elissar to avoid getting robbed at this place for no...

Me and my boyfriend decided to try this Lebanese restaurant, which at first glance seemed like a really nice and welcoming place, with a menu that promised a great dining experience. We had high expectations when we reserved a table early that afternoon but unfortunately, our experience was ruined by the rude staff. The waiter took our order in a very hasty and indifferent manner, showing no attentiveness or friendliness. Additionally, we ordered two drinks, but only one was brought to us. When we asked about the missing drink, it was brought to us with an unpleasant attitude and no apology. To make matters worse, they brought a different warm starter that we didn't order. We didn't have the chance to ask for an explanation about the starter that had been brought because the waiter left the plate on the table and left immediately; despite pointing out the mistake during the payment (not to get a discount or to pay less but just to make the waiter aware of the mistake that had been made) the response was unprofessional and annoyed without even a quick apology. During the dinner my boyfriend ordered another beer, we waited 15 min but nothing arrived so we asked about it and after 1 min they bought to the table a badly poured beer with practically half the mug of just foam. What was even more disappointing was noticing the clear difference in attitude towards the customers: some like us were badly treated other instead seemed to be treated with much more respect and attention, likely because the staff considered them “worthy” of better service. It's a shame, because the food quality and the ambiance are truly pleasant, but the service left much...
