We had a lovely stay of 3 nights at the Gold Ibis. It is located in a quiet, relax and safe neighborhood on the west bank of the Nile just accross the Luxor temple. The ferry is only at 5 minutes by foot and is really close from the main attractions as the Valley of the King, Valley of the queen, temple of Hatshepsut, Medinat Habu, etc. If you want a little adventure, get to the attractions by bicycle, that's what we did! It's easy, peaceful and you see amazing landscape on the way. ||Our room was clean, spacious with comfortable bed, a sunny balcony which allow a lot of natural light. It has hot water as well which was really welcome since winter night in Egypt is more cold that we expected. The complementary breakfast was delicious and different every morning. Tip: ask them to have your breakfast on the rooftop. The amazing view on Luxor and the warm sun is a must. ||The owner, Mohamed Hassan, and his team welcome you with open arms and is really considerate and caring. He will give you good tips and help you plan your days and visits. If you need a bicycle, a driver or even a hot air balloon ride as in our case, he will put everything in place and you just need to show up in the morning. Good to know: his English is really good. ||It was an overall great experience and I will definitely come back to...
Read moreWe were a family of five and had three rooms at Gold Ibis. We were made very welcome from the start - the room was spotlessly keen and the beds had been beautifully prepared. We were on the top floor which had good views, especially from the back over green plantations. The beds were very comfortable and a good size. The roof terrace is fabulous, with views of the Nile and the across the city towards the Valley of the Kings. Breakfast was traditional which might not be everyone's favourite but we loved it. We didn't use the pool but it looked clean. The hotel arranged a transfer from the airport which was in a modern bus with a safe driver. We were able to walk from the hotel to the riverside where there are places to eat and drink. We hired a car and driver to get us around the West Bank sites which was easy enough and good value. A ferry to the East bank is close by and very cheap or you can hire a boat cheaply too. Our only criticism would be that you have to ring the bell to get in at night which means the proprieter has to stay up if you are late back. I would highly recommend Gold Ibis for a...
Read moreWonderful owner and staff bending over backward to make sure one has a memorable stay. The owner helped me to see what I needed to see in Luxor. The room is huge with a queen size bed. You can see wonderful sunsets up on the rooftop dining area. I had two delicious dinners staying three nights. The portions are huge! Was served traditional Egyptian food for breakfasts. Enjoyed sitting outside by the bon fire at night (bring marshmallows). January is a good time to visit. Not hot! Also it is in a quiet location away from...
