New Garden Palace Hotel — Hotel in Cairo

We rented a three bed room for five nights. When we arrive late in the night we saw that the room was far to poor for us but we decided that we will spend the night and look for another place the next day. The reception area looks OK even if everything looks old and worn. They gave us room number four on the eight floor. The elevator is dirty and it did not feel safe as the elevator door window on one floor was broken and there was a big hole in the wall between two floors. The room is old and worn. The beds are in bad condition and were old and worn. There is only one electrical socket in the room and it is used for the refrigerator. The bath room looks like it is renovated a few years back but not professionally. There is hot water. There is a problem with the sink as it swallows water slowly and then there is water running out on the floor from behind the sink. The room is very draughty so it was impossible to fell warm and all the street noises from Al Kasr Al Aini makes it hard to fall a sleep. In the morning I had four bug bites on my left hand and my son got three at his neck and ear. In the morning we went down to the reception to get breakfast. We got served Aish Balady, a cold egg and some tea. When we arrived I had to pay for the five nights. When we checked out after only one night we were not offered a refund. Scam Scam Scam!

I booked a room in New Garden Palace Hotel in Cairo and then I regretted it. I had check out the first day.

First of all, I booked it for 3 nights and I only stayed here 1 night & then I had to move out because the room was very old, its window door was broken and it would come off easily if someonewas to push it.

There was no shower in the bathroom and very little hot water. I has to take shower with small water bottle.

Last but not least, we gave the manager/owner 50 euro. We asked for change and he said that he will bring me the change (25 euro) to my room but he didn't. There were 2 ladies who couldn't speak English (I used Google Translate) who told me to come in the evening. In evening there was someone and he said that he will bring the money to my other hotel where I was staying.

He didn't bring the money and we had to go to the hotel again and there was no sign of the manager to give us the money.

Nous avions réservé nos premières 2 nuits en Egypte dans cet hôtel à notre arrivée de France, pour son prix attractif et sa situation géographique (nous sommes un couple de voyageurs indépendants ne cherchant pas le confort absolu). Ces 2 nuits furent un cauchemar ! Le personnel (même à la réception) ne maîtrise pas l'anglais. A notre arrivée, nous avons réglé pour les 2 nuits et étions d'accord sur le prix de la chambre (nous avions réservé via Booking.com). Lorsque nous avons pris possession de notre chambre, nous avons découvert que nous n'avions pas d'eau dans la salle de bain, la moquette était dans un état épouvantable : l'aspirateur n'avait pas été passé depuis des lustres, en rapprochant les 2 lits twins, nous avons découvert des tas de vieux déchets, poussière et saleté sous les lits, le mini-bar était entièrement moisi, la salle de bain était noire de crasse... Bref, à part les lits qui avaient été refaits (nous espérons !), le ménage n'avait pas du tout été fait depuis des mois ! Le téléphone ne fonctionnait pas pour joindre la réception... Nous avons donc demandé à changer de chambre. Nous avons eu le droit à l'eau...oui mais de l'eau froide, il ne faut pas trop en demander quand même ! Le rideau de douche avait des tâches d'excréments et la saleté de la chambre était égale à la précédente chambre. Le lendemain, un réceptionniste nous a conseillé de laisser notre clé en partant (pour éviter de la perdre dans la journée). Lorsque nous sommes revenus le soir, la réception ne voulait pas nous redonner notre clé sous prétexte que nous avions fait notre check-out le matin même... Nous avons passé 1/4 d'heure à la réception pour essayer de leur expliquer que nous restions 2 nuits (confirmation de réservation papier à l'appui), mais ils ne voulaient rien entendre. Nous avons pu rentrer dans notre chambre, mais les réceptionnistes nous ont harcelé de coups de fil dans la chambre et ne cessaient de frapper à la porte sous prétexte que nous n'avions pas réglé la 2ème nuit, puis soi-disant parce que nous avions réservé une chambre single et non une chambre double...bref ils nous réclamaient un supplément. Au bout d'1/2 heure, ils nous ont laissé tranquilles. Nous n'avions pas d'eau le 2ème soir non plus. Autant dire que nous avons passé une très mauvaise 2ème nuit en redoutant le check-out du lendemain. Par chance, nous avons eu le droit à une douche chaude le lendemain matin ! Youpi ! L'hôtel est très bruyant : il faut attendre 2 heures du matin pour espérer dormir. Les parties communes (réception, escaliers sont dans un état déplorables : noirs de crasse), nous étions au 8ème étage mais préférions prendre les escaliers, tellement l’ascenseur nous terrorisait. Petit-déjeuner minable, sans boisson. Nous avons quand même pu quitter notre chambre sans payer de supplément. Bien que le prix soit attractif, le descriptif et les photos paraissant sur les sites distributeurs de cet hôtel ne correspondent en rien avec la réalité. Je pense être objective dans mon évaluation, je travaille moi-même dans un hôtel résidence. En conclusion, je vous le déconseille très fortement !! Conseil de voyageur et de...
