Took our children to see the sights in Paris as part of our summer holidays this year. After many hours trawling through the options we decided on 3 nights at an unusual B&B in the heart of Paris just off the Boulevard St-Germain, a two minute walk from the banks of the Seine and Ile de la Cite.||||Fair to say that from the first moment we entered we were blown away by the house - and I say house because that's what it is, a house and home to Anne and her family as well as a comfortable, well equipped and beautiful B&B. ||||This house dates back to the 17th century and is steeped in history, it is a tall imposing building on the outside but inside you enter straight into the warm and comfortable music room and shared lounge, which forms part of the inner atrium rising up at least four floors to a glazed roof above you. Equipped with guitars and a grand piano as well as tables and comfortable couches this is where we took our breakfast in the mornings after calling at the bakers on the corner of Rue de Bievre (less than a 1 minute walk) for some rather fine pastries and croissant.||||Anne greeted us in her near flawless English (I understand that Anne and her children speak French, English, Spanish, German and Mandarin) and gave us a guided tour of the house. She lives with her family on the fourth floor, where there is also a small, pretty sun terrace with views of nearby Notre Dame that we had access to.||||She also showed us the pool, gym and sauna in the basement that we also had access to and my children really enjoyed using after the hot summer days exploring the sights and sounds of Paris.||||We stayed in the ground floor family room which is a double room with twin singles in a gallery, a private bathroom and kitchenette. Anne provides the essentials in terms of tea, coffee, milk, butter and jam and you then get to shop at your preferred boulangerie for your breakfasts of choice - and this area of Paris (let's face it most of Paris) has a multitude of quality bakers shops to choose from.||||The location could not be better as it is great for the metro, the Seine, Ile de la Cite and the Marais. It is secure, comfortable, well equipped and Anne is on hand to provide recommendations for restaurants, entertainment and some off the beaten track tips for seeing the sights.||||Maison d'Anne is something a little different from other places we've stayed in Paris but is all the better for that, it's not cheap but given the facilities and location is definitely worth it and I would highly recommend it. Book well in advance though as the house only has 3 or 4 guest rooms.||||One thing to call out would be that the twin singles in the gallery are comfortable ad great for older children but may not be suitable for the very young due to the...

Staying at la maison d'Anne was the highlight of our trip to Paris. Anne is inviting and interesting and her home is an amazing hodgepodge of well love antiques and books--a tribute to the "old" Paris.
Have you ever been in a home 6 stories tall, each with it's own apartments but centered on a warm and inviting music room / breakfast room? Have you ever taken a dip in a pool in a grotto that was built in the middle ages? Or gotten advise from a woman so thoroughly Paris she can pick out your perfect restaurant and attractions without really trying? You'll get all this and more at la maison d'Anne.
While the experience here is rich and varied it is not a luxury hotel. Expect mismatched but well loved chairs, apartments redrawn from their original use, and a hot cup of coffee from Anne if you visit her kitchen way up on the 6th floor.
We would stay here again in an instant--we were so lucky to find this hidden gem in the heart of Paris!...
