Among memorable and generally excellent food on a long trip to Greece, this place stands at as close to our worst dining experience. They brought my wife’s food first, and then I needed to wait about 55 minutes for my bream (fish). First, the waiter seemed to promise to comp me about 45 to 50 minutes in. But within five minutes, he produced the fish and later disclaimed any intention of a complementary meal. Eating at about 10:30 or 11 PM with an early ferry to catch the next morning was not pleasant. The fish was actually not bad. The waiter excused the terrible service with the explanation that another waiter was missing that night. I think something went wrong in the kitchen. Response to owner: you have a unique location right on the concrete quay alongside the water. Before writing the review, I also looked at photos of your restaurant. It was the Kastello restaurant. I complained to the waiter about the 55 min delay (AFTER my wife’s meal arrived) and about his apparent backsliding on what I took as his promise of a complementary fish course for me. So the long delay plus the lying spoiled the meal for me. Gem in Heraklion!

We had an absolutely amazing experience at Kastella Seafood Restaurant in Heraklion. The food was simply out of this world – we started with a classic Greek salad and some fries that were just perfect. Then came the shrimp tempura – light, crispy, and full of flavor – followed by tender, perfectly grilled octopus that truly melted in your mouth. One of the highlights was the zucchini, cut into thin strips and fried in a delicious coating – we were already full, but we couldn’t stop eating!

The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the owner was incredibly kind and hospitable. It felt just like being in a cozy Cypriot taverna, where the owners greet you like old friends. To top it all off, we were treated to an amazing raki and the most delicious homemade chocolate I’ve ever tasted – truly unforgettable.

味道、服务、景色都非常棒👍 This was our first dinner in Heraklion, and it was a wonderful experience! The restaurant is right by the sea — enjoying dinner with the breeze and sunset was amazing.

The service was excellent and the owner was very friendly. The lamb chops were incredibly tasty, and both the seafood pasta and squid were super fresh and delicious. After the meal, we were treated to homemade chocolate cake and house-made liquor, which was a lovely surprise.

The owner also showed us some fish freshly caught from the sea. We didn’t ask for the price since we were on a budget, but it might not be as expensive as we thought.

I was feeling a bit down earlier in the day because we only planned one day in Chania with its beautiful beaches, but this amazing dinner in Heraklion totally made up for it. If we ever come back to Crete, we’ll definitely return to...
